Credit to OP for going through all this work to handle outlier cases which were clearly troll attempts but the results were still skewed by those votes in the end. For example, if we look at the votes for LeBron and Kareem,

LeBron: 1x14, 2x10, 3x3, 4x2, 6, 12, 23
Kareem: 1x2, 2x12, 3x15, 4, 6, 8

It is obvious most ranked LeBron over Kareem. In a direct H2H comparison, 24 out of 32 voted for LeBron over Kareem. But because LeBron had two haters who left him out the top 10, he ended up behind Kareem overall in average rankings. I am not saying we have to throw those two votes out but there is clearly something wrong with the vote counting method if the opinion of just two voters can override the vast majority.

(Don't know who will be running the top 100 project this time but I would recommend the H2H vote counting method I used in the peaks project to avoid manipulation like this. It's quite intuitive and there is already a script to tally up the votes automatically.)

Trex hosted the Top 100 Project which I believe was ranked choice vote

28 votes requires 15 for a majority. As no one is close, we'll eliminate the bottom two, which transfers two votes to Magic and two to Shaq. New count is....

Shaq - 11
Magic - 11
Garnett - 6

Still no majority, so Garnett is eliminated, which initially transferred 3 votes to Magic, 2 to Shaq, and 1 became a ghost vote. I contacted the "ghost vote", and given the choice between Magic and Shaq, he said he'd go for Magic. New count is.....

Shaq - 13

Right, but "ranked choice" works by having a "head to head" if an absolute majority isn't achieved

I’d be down to chime in and participate while trying to get to 50, would be a fun community project I feel like (sans a few trolls sabotaging votes). I take it new participants not on the original spreadsheet are welcome?

But the initial vote transfer when there is no majority could eliminate a H2H winner. For example, if we have these 7 votes:

A>B>C
B>A>C
B>A>C
C>A>B
C>A>B
D>A>C
D>A>B

Player A would have been eliminated because they have the fewest first place votes. Even though they beat players B, C, D H2H all by a comfortable 5-2 margin. This is especially a problem in later rounds when the difference between being eliminated and going into the next H2H runoff is often just a single first place vote.
