There's a bunch of guys good enough to be in the league but who play a style that most team builders don't really want or need. Pick a top 3 for each category:
Undersized shooting guards: Guys with PG size and underdeveloped playmaking but who can shoot and score. Collin Sexton types.
No defense 3 point specialists with size: Guys who are at least 6'4 in stocking feet (6'6 in official NBA terms) who make their living by shooting 3's but don't bring it on the other end. Davis Bertans types.
Inside bigs with limited shooting range. Either low post scorers who don't have the shot to stretch the floor or defensive bigs with limited scoring. Daniel Gafford types.
Best 3 of whichever one you want to talk about or all 3 if you feel ambitious.

Wouldn't Donovan Mitchell be by far the best for the undersized shooting guards? I can get behind All-Star level guys not really being applicable here but the definition of a SG with PG size who isn't a primary playmaker but can score at a high level seems to fit him perfectly.
For the inside bigs I'd probably say Nic Claxton as of now. He's a really good defender and an effective scorer inside but this season is the first time he's averaged over 10 PPG and it isn't by much, while he rarely ever shoots from further than 10 feet from the basket.
The tall no defense 3-point specialists kind of depend on how exclusively specialist you want to get. My first thought was MPJ as he's shooting more than half of his attempts from behind the arc, similarly Klay might fit the bill at this point as his already overrated defense seems to have mostly disappeared after his injuries. With stricter rules as to what they can bring to the table guys like Bertans and Robinson seem like pretty much the best and they're both big negative end of bench guys.

Re: Who needs you? Best of the least favored categories.
If the big sets good screens for 3 point shooters the big does not need shooting range to be a floor spacer.
This would not have been true in 1990 when the good 3 point shooters did not shoot 3s when coming of screens.
Because modern efficient high volume 3 point shooting did not exist in 1990 defenses were barely defending 3 point shots.
Players could shoot as many open 3 point shots as they liked so there was no need for screens at the 3 point line.
Once there were a bunch of good 3 point shooters that could hit 3s while coming off screens man to man defense required big defenders to come out to the 3 point line to defend screens set for 3 point shooters.

I think there's too many of category 1 guys who are heavily valued in the NBA: Mitchell, Murray, Anfernee, Maxey, Poole, CJ, Kyrie. I'm not high on Dame's playmaking so I'd group him in here as well. While this isn't my favorite type of player, I can't see it as a "least favored" category by NBA teams.
Category 2: Bojan Bogdanovic, Kevin Huerter, Klay and MPJ are the starriest versions I can think of. If they're too starry or you're higher on their defense, we fall down to Doug McDermott, Georges Niang, and Cam Johnson (whose defense I think is firmly in this category). AJ Griffin is an amazing shooter and a pretty abysmal defender. We'll see if that changes as he's just a rookie.
Category 3 gives us some sub-all-stars in Jarrett Allen, Nic Claxton, Rudy Gobert, Walker Kessler, and Jakob Poetl.

You think teams aren't confident about Kyrie, CJ (now, not in Portland), and Murray as lead ballhandlers playing the point? I was thinking of guys that teams feel have to be primarily two guards that are 6'3 (in shoes) or smaller.
