Re: Iggy 2015 vs Wiggs 2022 Finals
I thought what Andre did was just slightly more important, but it's very close. Working in Wiggs' favor is that Draymond struggled to some extent in the 2023 Finals till the last 2 games, where Iggy had prime Draymond to back him up the whole series. One thing Iggy was so good at was utilizing the threat of Draymond's help, knowing he had a top tier defender frequently to back him up if LeBron beat him. The Warriors used more of a team defense to beat LeBron than they did Tatum/Brown, which is why I thought Iggy getting all the credit as a "LeBron stopper" was a bit overstated as LeBron averaged 32.66 FGA and Iggy was the defender on only a fraction of those.
Iggy's scoring is actually the underrated part of his 2015 contribution. In the last 3 games which were all wins, Iggy averaged 20.33 PPG where Klay contributed 8.6PPG, giving Steph a much needed 2nd option to help with the intense focus he was getting. Iggy contributed a little more on both offense and defense, and on better TS% than Wiggs. He passed better, and generally raised the team's level a little higher.
The deciding factor to me is that 2022 Steph contributed a Hulk carry, where though I thought Curry deserved the FMVP in 2015, it wasn't nearly the same level of a contribution as 2022. With the 2022 Finals being so much about what Steph contributed I have trouble saying the #2 guy was as important as in 2015, where the #2 guy's contribution was closer to the #1 guy's contribution.

I think Iguodala was just a lot more consistent game to game. Wiggins had a couple very strong performances along with a couple pretty mediocre ones, while iguodala was great in every game except game 2 where he was still a positive regardless.

Iggy.
I actually have the extremely unpopular opinion that Iggy getting that FMVP over Steph isn’t that crazy. I think Iggy was THAT good on defense in the series and Curry at the point was a clear (but not extreme) negative impact defender. So combined with Igyy being an efficient secondary scorer and a good tertiary playmaker, I think you can definitely make case that the defensive gap was bigger than the offensive gap. So I don’t hate it at all.
1-on-1 LeBron basically couldn’t do anything against Iggy and so the Cavs’ offense was being wrecked right at the power source as it had to devolve into trying to work around that.
