Current Jimmy vs peak Harden

It's insane to me that Jimmy isn't winning this poll comfortably. Give me the player who raises his game in the playoffs over the guy with beautiful regular-season stats (in large part due to how he's officiated) who disappears in virtually every closeout/elimination game any day of the week.

I suppose people voting Harden think regular season sample size but how much do you weigh that against the playoffs? When you just look at the playoffs, it's pretty hard to argue for Harden.

Butler's numbers on his current run will likely dip a bit, but unless they completely falter off - his last 2 playoff runs are pretty much MJ/LeBron-like.

Hard to make an argument for any perimeter player over that.

Eh, Butler's numbers well fell short if you adjust for scoring inflation. (There's also a big defensive gap relative to lebron). Butler is starting to get very overrated.

It's clearly peak Harden. Even though his Rockets team didn't make the Finals in 2018, Harden that year was better than any version of Jimmy Butler. Harden and that Rockets team would have never lost to a team as average as the 2023 Hawks or even come close to losing to a 10-seed like the 2023 Bulls.

Recency bias is why some people think 2023 Butler is better than 2018 Harden. I've even seen some people say that current Jayson Tatum is better than 3-peat Kobe and 3-peat Pippen.
