Better warriors Mullin or klay

Post#1 » by MyUniBroDavis » Tue Aug 15, 2023 8:41 am

I saw this on tiktok earlier and thought it was interesting, who do you believe is the greater warriors player? Not who was better all time or who was better

Mullin seems like he was a lot better and had far more career value even if you compare their warriors years alone, but between whose the greater warrior I could see an argument for klay

(Better way to phrase it, who leaves a larger legacy for the warriors when klay career is done?)

These two aren’t comparable.

Which side? I’m not asking who was the better player, I should restate that, more who leaves with a larger legacy for the warriors when klay career is done if he retires there

It's not quite the same question but level of player still matters. I'd say for people who were Warriors fans since the 80's it's probably Mullin. For the ones who came in after 2000 it's probably Klay because their memories of Mullin will be non existent and the further they ever made it was one conf final so no banners in the arena or anything like that. A lot of Warriors fans prob aren't even aware of the title in 75 either.

Yeah, we may as well say Klay has a larger legacy than Rick Barry, Paul Arizin, and Wilt Chamberlain if it's just who would win on an open poll on the internet.

Chris Mullin was a better player by a lot, and him standing out on Team USA is a nice feather in his cap to make up for lack of being on a good team for most of his career.

Depends a bit on how it ends for Klay, currently I'd go with Klay.

If it ends in Golden State with an ugly contract I could see opinion on him going a bit south. Either taking a huge deal and tanking them for a few seasons or him leaving to go elsewhere out of spite for not getting the big payday*.

*That's assuming it's a similar deal to what the Warriors offer - if GS offers him 3/60 and he says no because somebody offered him 4/200 I don't think most anyone will blame him.
I bought a boat.

Just by nature of being a key part of the best stretch of years in franchise history, I think it has to be Klay

I think it's pretty close, but would give edge to Mullin.

Klay probably loses out recognising two of his prime years were lost to injury. In that regard they also have similarities!

I do think Klay as he drifts off into oblivion on funny legs, tends to get a little hard done by these days. On this forum I'm sure it's also bolstered by the advent of Draymond impact analytics, which sometimes I feel unfairly takes away from Klay's impact and gravitational pull on that team which weren't always quantified.

He was nothing short of phenomenal in those 4 or so years of prime contention, the aspects of his skillset he mastered were at all time level e.g. catch and shoot, off ball movement, pull ups. Whilst some of what he achieved during those in game hot streaks may not be replicated for years to come.

Mullin was a legit offensive focal piece, short of putting the ball on the floor for extended periods. Klay has measurable impact on the defensive side. Perhaps ironically both could shoot the lights out YMMV
