I have as little faith in DLo as everyone else, but he's only on the team because they were desperately trying to salvage one of the dumbest trades in recent memory. Limited guys like Reddish and Prince are playing major roles in large part because these dimwits let Caruso walk and traded KCP in the Russ deal. You just can't afford that kind of tomfoolery when your best players are old and/or injury-prone and you've already traded away your entire draft and almost all of your young talent.

^^THIS^^ And there are people out there "feeling" Pelinka has done a decent job? I just don't understand it. Again, yes would love another championship for Lebron, but this all seems like gravy to me. This guy is still this good at this age and mileage. Just enjoying the journey this year.

I think he did a decent job under the circumstances: there are 2 major moves that I wouldn't do, but imo none of those decisions were at his hands:
1;I wouldn't have traded for Westbrook - though I would have probably been fired right away as both AD and James were forcing this and were hell bent that this will play out well
2;I wouldn't have been cheap w/ Caruso - though Jeannie had a payroll target which would have been exceeded by Caruso's 10m/yr extension.

Apart from those, he did a decent job: he put together a nice roster in '20-21, get rid of Westbrook without sacrificing much and at the end the roster improved significantly. (I didn't think this was possible at all). He also did the right moves in '23-24 - the fact is just, we didn't have enough assets to improve.

In hindsight he probably overpaid in the trade for Davis (1 year of contender status diesn't justify the ton of prospects and picks we paid).

For the future I'd like him to prioitize the post Lebron and post AD era. No more retooling, no more trading of future assets (unless they result in a starter level player post rebuild), contrary: trade away aging players who has sone value. If he can do that, I'm fine w/ his job.

Question for everyone:

Is Lebron James the greatest player ever after age 36, overall, in NBA history?

I like Tyus, Delon and a backup C in Gafford.

Tyus is awful though? He was worse than dlo in that playoff series . He can’t get to or pressure the rim and he’s going to be unplayable defensively. I’d honestly rather have Gabe if he’d remotely heakthy or of had Schroeder. Tyus makes Dlo look like a good defender.

Gafford i am interested in as a potential side move along side a bigger one ( for lavine or whoever ) . But im not sure why Washington woukd do it as he looks like a legit decent young cebtre for the future. But he would be a nice get: him or one of the magic centres ( goga /wendall ) would be ideal for backup role on cheapish deals even if wendall has injury issues.

Vando injured.. I like his impact on rebounds, I hope he can get his %s up. Rui I like better but he's also wearing a face mask.

Reddish, Prince, Vincent, Wood, Hayes... These guys are at 55% TS for the season and that's being dragged up by Prince mostly.

zimpy27 wrote:I just wish Pelinka used RPM or PIPM to make judgements on players..

Just look at some impact stats man, you will find good role players

By EPM Reddish and Prince are significantly better than Vanderbuilt and Hachimura

Which tracks with what’s visible . Last few years vando was the best of that group but he’s still massively limited n doesn’t fit with AD n Bron as he hurts spacing n turns them into jump shooters . Though I think he’s injured now but I think he’s going to develop too slowly offensively if ever to be much use : did hope he’d be healthy n playable to help with rebounding. Some of that is Ham choosing to defend transition this year over crashing the glass despite many coaches ( like Utahs coach ) saying that crashing the glass has been shown to be better in expected PPP ; but maybe lakers don’t agree with those analytics .

The two teams that gave up on Vando had better shooting star bigs. Reddish n prince have honestly been better then I expected for a vet minimum and bi annual pick up. It’s the supposed depth that’s been a no show in all the 10-20m salaries. Some have been injured some are paid like they were quality starters but just aren’t and never have been ; DLo n Rui. We needed more of these guys to hit on the high side if expectations. Doesn’t help that reaves started the year poor maybe with a fiba hangover n hasn’t been the same defensively or his lack of strength is being exploited . ADs jumper is back which is nice but it’s kinda sad we’re still losing . But Bron n ADs lvl of play still gives me some sense of optimism if they can upgrade around them, but right now there seems a lot that needs ti be changed .

It’s kinda crazy if Rui hits some free throws and Dlo could have a game where he scores more then shots taken they’d of won tonight . Not hopeless then but these two being the biggest salaries gotta be shopped. Dlo has had ONE game since the pistons game a month ago with more points then shots. Crazy.

LeBron is undeniably the best 36+ player, might be arguable Malone had more total value due to availability, don’t think anyone else is in the discussion.

A few problems with this post and your next I think.

1) You're comparing apples to oranges in some cases what with WS accumulated for three years vs four depending on the player (ie. 36-39 vs 36-40); naturally, the greater the range, the more WS.

2) This season isn't even half done yet and so comparing the ranges of 36-39 when LeBron hasn't even gone through the entire season yet isn't a fair comparison.

Are you kidding me? of course. He is and it's not even close.

This is from a few years ago when 36 year olds were still expected to be human. The peaks he praises Wizards MJ for hitting at 36 is just another tuesday for current Lebron.

This nicely illustrates how win shares aren't particularly good for player comparisons.

Lmfao no shooting

At this point just go back to last years starting lineup with Dlo, AR, Vando, Bron, AD and stagger 2 of the main 4 at all times

It has problems come playoff time, but for the reg season it should be fine

Try anything to stop the bleeding in 1st quarters. It's just impossible win like this.

Unreal. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ham go sooner rather than later with this nonsense.

lmfao utterly braindead organization from the coach to the GM to the front office & ownership. LeBron needs to test his FA options next summer
