How far is Jalen Williams from an All Star case?

JDub has a superb year:

18.7 ppg
4.5 apg
45% from 3
62% TS
Great defender
Great playmaker

Has a solid case for 2nd most important offensive player in OKC, one of the best teams this year.

According to this article from 12 days ago https://okcthunderwire.usatoday.com/2024/01/19/jalen-williams-talks-playmaking-ascension-growing-as-ball-handler/ , "In his last 15 games, Williams is averaging 21.6 points on an absurd 73.1 true-shooting percentage, 5.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds.".

How far is he from having a solid case for All Star selection this year?

He's playing like a fringe All-Star right now but he's a long shot to make it in a pretty stacked west. I'd be surprised if Curry, Kawhi, Edwards, AD, Booker and PG aren't selected as back ups so that'd leave only one spot he has to compete for with Gobert, KAT, Lauri, Murray, Chet, Sabonis, Fox, Sengun, Wemby and probably a couple others.

Reasonably close no for me.

With the note that he'd get an 'all-star' grade from me in a CORP style analysis. Back in the 50's there were too many slots for an all-star game, now there are too few.
I bought a boat.

He's already an All-Star level player, but it'll be difficult for him to make it because of the competition. Maybe next season if he makes a further push in his stats and OKC looks like the best team in the West - which isn't that unlikely of a scenario.

Definitely a fan of the guy, he's one of the best all-around wings in the league already. There's basically no weakness in his game whatsoever and he does many things at a high level.
