Was challenged to defeat this Super Peak Team

Post#1 » by SelakStreet » Sat Jun 22, 2024 9:56 am

PG: ‘08 Allen Iverson (Denver Nuggets)
SG: '01 Jerry Stackhouse (Detroit Pistons)
SF: '94 Clarence Weatherspoon
PF: '94 Derrick Coleman (New Jersey Nets)
C: '87 Michael Cage (Los Angeles Clippers)

My Team:

PG: '16 Kemba Walker
SG: '14 Gerald Henderson, Jr.
SF: '04 Corey Maggette (Los Angeles Clippers)
PF: '06 Boris Diaw (Phoenix Suns)
C: '16 Bismack Biyombo (Toronto Raptors)

I think I'll give it a go with Kemba, Henderson Jr., Maggette, Diaw and Biyombo as my first unit. Running the offense through either Kemba or Diaw would at least get some semblance of offense going, and allow these two as well as Maggette and Henderson Jr. to provide scoring.

Re: Was challenged to defeat this Super Peak Team with the Super Peak Worst All-Time Team

Phrasing is odd here and probably hasn't helped generate any interaction.

Assume the point here is to find an all-time awful team that with peak versions of players could be good.

One that pops to mind in the 1987 Clippers. I'm assuming Norm Nixon is available for this, he was injured so didn't play but I believe he was a Clipper, just not available to them due to injury [he isn't on their Reference page].

I'll put some years as possibilities but not looking too hard

Norm Nixon '79
Mike Woodson '83
Marques Johnson '79-'81
Cedric Maxwell '80
Benoit Benjamin Late '89 season (or '89-'90)

bench
Larry Drew '83
Michael Cage '92

if needed
Darnell Valentine has a decent defensive rep and has a couple of solid production years early in his career (especially '83), Kurt Nimphius, at his best, was a passable rotation big. Some people might like Quintin Dailey's shot gunning more than me.

I put Nixon in as the starter given his name but given Drew and Woodson peaked together (i.e. on the same team) and there's not a clear quality gap one could argue for that pairing. In any case they can all get minutes.
