He peaked then, as a top 5 player.

He stopped being a top 10 player by 2016.

Most overrated player in the history of the NBA. I don't get it.

Kobe has that title locked up. CP3 was underrated if anything.

Chris paul has an argument to be the secret 2nd best player in the league after lebron in the early 2010's which is when i think he peaked relative to league right when the currys, kawhis and hardens had yet to blow up but the old guard was aging

Late 00's version was great too but there was stiffer competition with kobe, wade, dirk and even howard or old duncan/garnett

08/09. As rk said I think the athleticism pre-injury holds more value (much better at getting to the rim / bending the defense) than the more cerebral version we saw in 14-16 as a Clipper. Though I do think his defense levelled up in LA, I don't think that quite closes the gap on his offense

This is off-topic, but I do find it interesting how many people are taking Hornets CP3 over Clippers CP3, but on the contrary wouldn't take 09 and 10 Lebron over Miami Lebron.

In 2016 he averaged 20/10 with 2 steals.

All-NBA defensive 1st team/All-NBA 2nd team.

Carried the Clippers to 4th seed without Griffin.

He was top 5 in 2016

Because Lebron stayed at MVP level.

CP3 went from MVP level to just elite player level. There is a noticeable decline.

I believe he did stay at MVP level. Disregarding the hybrid metrics, and pure plus-minus and RAPM stuff considers him better in LA, 2 of Paul's top 3 finishes I'm MVP voting were in LAC. So even in the mainstream sense, he seemed to be considered at MVP level, even though 2008 was his best shot.
