How does the 1960 team stack up against the Dream Team? We've had 32 years of basketball evolving in a fairly significant way since 1992.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Just word vomiting here - voted team to give the edge to USA 2024 just cause of how game breaking curry would be to open up Bron's driving lanes. Dream team doesn't have a great matchup for curry I feel like. The benefit of basketball knowledge in the past 30 years will make their offense better than dream boys.

Dream team has the stronger bench. Mullin, clyde, Stockton are quite a bit more proven and a different tier than guys like hali, ant, white to me. One problem might be that team USA's best perimeter defenders are relatively bad at offense. MJ might just rip through team USA's defense. Tatum might damn near be unplayable lol too small for the 4s/5s and cant score against clyde/pip/jordan. Prime athletic Barkley will be a difficult problem for team USA to solve too. He will be a mismatch for anyone on him. OH yeah i forgot this is gonna be a shortened 3 point line which means MJ might be a 40% 3 point shooter in this context...yeah thats not good for team USA.

Its hard to imagine this being anything less than a 7 game series. Its gonna be extremely physical, a big time slug match and if you give dream team guys say a year or two to learn modern concepts especially defensively it will go down to the wire.

Let's wait how prime Ant looks like. He'd probably be the game changer here.

These are the starting/closing lineups I would probably choose:

Magic Johnson
Michael Jordan
Scottie Pippen
Larry Bird
David Robinson

Steph Curry
Devin Booker
Kevin Durant
LeBron James
Anthony Davis

But I could be persuaded to replace Booker with Holiday or Embiid.

You’re greatly underestimating the difference between prime Bird and 1992 bad back Bird.
