Gene Melchiorre: #1 pick in 1951, a 5-8 top guard. Never played a single NBA game due to a point shaving scandal.

Hot Rod Hundley (1957) was ok, but had terrible knees and not worthy of #1. Ditto Mychal Thompson (1978).

Yup--people forget about Larue, but he was by far the worst. His best season's stats, in a more watered down league thanks to the ABA, were worse on a bad team than Kandi's or Kwame's career averages. So at his best, he was having a below average season for the K brothers. Now that's bad.

But he did have a better 'fro than either of them, so he's got that going for him.... Which is nice.

even after all those names that are thrown around, I'm still very inclined to say its Kwame Brown.

How can you be 7 feet tall and MISS DUNKS! And MISS LAY UPS!

Kwame is in a class all by himself. and in the words of Phil Jackson,

"My starting center is a pussy."

Probably Kwame Brown... not one worthy season.

I think it has to be Kandi-man over brown as the worst #1 pick because you need to look at who he was taken over in the draft. Kandi-man was picked before Bibby, Nowitzki, Jamison Carter, and Pierce. Brown was taken over Curry, Chandler, and Gasol. None of them are world beaters. Kwame at least is a solid positional defensive center while Kandi-man hasn't done anything in the league for 3-4 years. Plus Kwame did have one season where he averaged double figures, while Kandi only had two, not much difference.

SB was no problem for Big Shawn. The problem was that he got pushed around like a veranda door down low, and rather let himself get dunked on than playing mean.
