BTW, watching the two teams on Sunday, we looked noticeably weaker without Bynum than the Celtics without KG. The Celtics was at least able to take a strong Orlando team to the last minute(with the direction of the calls going to the Magic no less), losing only by a surprisingly clutch shot by Turkoglue.

On the other hand, we've had to dig pretty hard without Bynum, even taking advantage of a leaky roof to give Kobe some extra rest, yet still couldn't make up for him.

So if the criteria for MVP is how a team looks like without a certain player, you could argue that Bynum belongs right up there. In every game we've played so far, as in judging how we've played in the 1st and very importantly the 3rd, I can confidently say that having Bynum could have meant a difference of "at least" 8 points(though Ariza could also be a factor, which he must be, because 8+ points are a pretty big differential.)

They're on the second tier of contenders along with Steve Nash.

edit:

Stop with the stupid Bynum posts Bynum is easily NOT even among the top 10 most deserving players of the MVP award.

Bynum is a good player, but his effectiveness is really predicated on Kobe's ability to draw double teams and either get the ball directly to him or swing it to another player who can get him the ball. Teams can't double Bynum (even if they wanted to) because of Kobe.

I honestly can't believe that people here are starting to buy into all the Bynum hype...

god, the East suck. The last 2 playoff spots have a combined 11 under .500.

ROFL at Bynum being mention in this thread. You gotta be kidding me.

For the first half I can't give it to LBJ because of his record. But if the cavs keep rolling and finish 3rd he might be in consideration. With all the help KG has they're going to need a very good record, and solid stats to give it to him. Right now I gotta give it to CP3 for leading his team to the top of hte west with less talent then a lot of other teams.

Chris Paul easily gets my vote and is consistent with the way MVPs have been selected in past 2 decades.

I don't see what Kobe has over Chris Paul at this point in the MVP race.

1) Paul - great numbers personally and teamwise
2) LeBron - The best individual numbers in the league
3) KG - good not great numbers on the best team in the league

That would be my top 3 at present.

My choice: Chris Paul.

I wouldn't have a problem with it going to KG either though, but I think CP3 has a better case. Lebron is def. in the conversation, he's been the most individually impressive, but record is the reason why I wouldn't give it to him.

Sadly there is no award in the NBA for most excellent (best) player. The MVP is a more of a team award than I would like... rings are for team awards (and finals MVP if you will).

Dude, as one said before, he's more dangerous.U can't argue against that.

Seriously, Paul's the man IMO.
