Jordan as a rookie or a 27 years-old Kobe (05-06)?

That's not actually true.

During the year in which Kobe scored 81, his Lakers played at a pace of 93.6.

Jordan's title Bulls played at:

91: 98.4
92: 97.3
93: 95.2
96: 93.8
97: 92.7
98: 92.0

I'd point out that in those last three years, Jordan scored 30.4 ppg (49.5%, 32 years old), 29.6 ppg (48.6%, 33 yo) and 28.7 ppg (46.5%, 34 yo).

So pace arguments, while they may be true of his earlier years, do not apply to what Jordan was doing in his early/mid 30s on the second three-peat squad.

And during this comparable as to pace 05/06 season Kobe registered 35,4 ppg. Of course was younger than Jordan from 2nd trilogy and took more attempts: on the other hand, playing for weaker team worsened his efficiency. Anyway, it's so not so bad: certainly not like "2 levels below Jordan" propaganda spread by some posters.

Scaling for Kobe's 41 mpg in '06 (Jordan played just 37.7 mpg in '96), it works out to 33.1 ppg for Jordan at age 33.

Kobe is not 2 levels below Jordan, and no one has ever said so. He's half a level below offensively (mainly relating to efficiency), and one level below as an overall player in terms of impact on games. And by "one level," I mean roughly 15% of overall impact on the average game, I don't mean that Kobe is on Paul Pierce's level.

If I didn't make it clear enough before: yes, both extreme statements are false. But it doesn't mean - even taking into account all nuances possible - that all statements stating overall defensive differences between eras are wrong and you can't summarize them just like did in my previous post to you here - right? Do you agree with conclusion of that post or not?

Myth--I have to be honest. I don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about.
