That's not actually true.
During the year in which Kobe scored 81, his Lakers played at a pace of 93.6.
Jordan's title Bulls played at:
91: 98.4
92: 97.3
93: 95.2
96: 93.8
97: 92.7
98: 92.0
I'd point out that in those last three years, Jordan scored 30.4 ppg (49.5%, 32 years old), 29.6 ppg (48.6%, 33 yo) and 28.7 ppg (46.5%, 34 yo).
So pace arguments, while they may be true of his earlier years, do not apply to what Jordan was doing in his early/mid 30s on the second three-peat squad.
And during this comparable as to pace 05/06 season Kobe registered 35,4 ppg. Of course was younger than Jordan from 2nd trilogy and took more attempts: on the other hand, playing for weaker team worsened his efficiency. Anyway, it's so not so bad: certainly not like "2 levels below Jordan" propaganda spread by some posters.
