Josh Howard or Caron Butler?

Post#1 » by T-Spot » Wed Feb 13, 2008 8:42 pm

Hopefully the title isn't to misleading.

Who would you pick if your team (much like the Raps) has a hole in the SF spot and both were available in the free agent market?

I find them very similar players, but I could be wrong. Both have shown that they are All-Stars, that they can be the franchise players, (Howard was arguably the best player on the Mavs in the first half, and Butler has just taken over since Gill went down.), both are very strong and athletic and both have similar numbers.

Butler

ppg: 21.4
reb: 6.8
ast: 4.5

fg%: 47.6%
3p%: 36.5%

Howard

ppg: 20.3
red: 7.4
ast: 2.1

fg%: 47.2%
3p%: 35.6%

Who would you pick?

If Cliff Levingston needed a guy to be "the man", he'd go for Butler. If Cliff Levingston needed a guy to blend in a little more and complement another star, he'd go for Howard.

Howard for me, love his game. Can't really go wrong with either though, any team would be lucky to have one or the other.

Caron Butler is a beast, and a marketing dream with his life story. I can't believe it hasn't been used more.

Butler, he plays better defense and has better shot selection.

Aw, man. I thought my original title was catchy.

I have to concede that Butler has better shot selection. He is also probably more clutch. But we can really say that as when its down to the nitty gritty, Dirk gets the ball, not Howard.

Last season, it was a tie (IMO). This season, Butler has flat out raised the bar.

Both are excellent players, but Butler, unsurprisingly, is my choice.

Caron Butler he has it all not saying that Howard doesn't but Howard doesn't have it the way that Caron has it he can really just take over a game he must have learned from Big-Headed Arenas, he shoots it great, he can drive it in, he can take on any player he has the more fatigue as well.

Caron Butler by a fairly wide margin. J Ho is a great player, but often disappears when the game is on the line.

I'd probably take Josh Howard by a slim margin.
