Nash. I trust Nash more than anyone else with the ball. I just know he won't make a mistake. Does he even make mistakes? LOL

He's on their level in terms of fancy And-1 type moves, maybe (at least on Nash's level; probably above him in this respect), but he's not nearly as good a ballhandler as they are, especially Nash. Kobe loses the ball multiple times each game when he gets into the lane. You can't lose the ball as much as Kobe does and be called the best ballhandler in the league imo. Most creative handle at the SG spot? No question; but not nearly the best ballhandler if you consider all aspects of ballhandling and not just one-on-one flash.

Yea, but Kobe also gets double and triple teamed more than any of those guys. It's a lot harder to keep the ball when you have 6 hands going for it instead of just two.

I have seen kobe split 3 to 4 defenders MANY times with his handles. There is no other player in the NBA who can do that as consistently as Kobe.

With that said, Kobe is obviously turnover prone because he gets too caught up in his moves.

But if someone were to come up to me and say "Pick one player to play one on one, and if he loses the ball you die" I would pick Kobe 100 times out of 100.

You'd be in the ground right now... you see the Hawks game? Unforced TO when he tried to go behind his back with 8 seconds left, down by 2.

Anyway Nash is probably the best at making passes of the dribble and probing the defense without picking up his dribble.. Paul is impossible to pick. Billups is massively under-rated but he might be the best because he uses his strength so well to protect the ball while he dribbles. Iverson is probably the most fun to watch. Garnett has amazing handles for a 7-footer.

I think this comes down to what people expect when you talk about ball handling. Are you looking for a consistent guy who never turn the ball over or a playmaker with the ability to handle the ball in less than ideal circumstances and make more good than bad plays with sheer dribbling ability through traffic that otherwise would not exist? Are we talking about if you took the best on ball defender in the league and put him on someone how easy would it be for that person to dribble around them and not get the ball stolen?

People have different ideas of ballhandling. Some people think And-1 and some people think Indiana Basketball slow it down don't turn it over ball control ball handling PG. Just depends on what you want.

Overall I'm going to roll with Jamal Crawford, CP3 and Luke Rindour all for different types of ball handling skills.

Iverson by a pretty wide margin. I'll put CP3 second.

For someone who is 6'8 Tmac used to have some sick handles during his Orlando days. I'm not sure how his handles are now that he plays for the Rockets, but considering he's always injured I'm sure their not as tight as they used to be..

I believe he dislocated his pinky the day before.

BTW...passing has nothing to do with handles. Handles is being able to dribble through people and keep control of the ball. Passing has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I think that Nash's one handed bounce passes with either hand moving full speed are a pretty impressive display of both ball handling and ball control. Being able to make plays off the bounce without slowing down or missing a beat does have to do with handles.

What did his pinky have to do with that, he had been going behind his back all day. He just go careless when his defender was giving him tons of room. If his pinky was going to be THAT much of a problem he shouldn't have done a completely unnecessary move with the game in his hands like that. Being smart with the basketball is important too, I guess not in terms of pure handles but in terms of functional dribbling.

James has amazing handle for a guy his size too. Might be his most impressive aspect.

Joe Johnson deserves at least an honorable mention. He makes people look silly with his dribble. He has just had a problem finishing this year.

AI has the best handle. Has a large number of effective moves, can beat anyone off the dribble, can beat a trap single handedly and can change speeds while maintaining his dribble going in any direction. Chris Paul is his heir apparent. After those two its not even close.

AI has the best handles, but it is unfair because he carries every time and he is lower to the ground so of course his handles will be better.

You haven't seen great handles till you have seen the greatness of Mardy Collins.
