Pick a Player NCAA Tournament Style Rules and Chat!!!!!!!
Hey Guys, I was looking in a thread in the 76ers forum, made by the sixers fixer, and it inspired me to create this thread.
With the greatest tournament in sports going on, I decided to try to settle the whole arguement of who is the greatest overall player in the NBA by setting up a large tournament, in the NCAA tournament style. I'd like to apoligize to the many fans who feel a player will have gotten snubbed, or someone didn't belong on the list, but I and a few others did my best to pick out the 64 active players that were the greatest overall. I'd like to thank Raptorzong in particular, he was a great help and here is the list of the 64 players, not full names for a lot of them. Do not worry about the order, just because Rasheed Wallace is a higher number then Gilbert Arenas does not mean he is a higher seed. The 64 participators in the tournament are.....
1. Lebron
2. Kobe
3. Dwight
4. Paul

The Voting procedure is as follows I will post one regional(revealed tommorrow) a day, every day. That will replace the list of names i'm teasing you with now. their will be a thread for each matchup, and you will have one day to vote. If your vote is not in by the end of that 24 hour period, it will not be counted. As soon as the 24 hours are up, a moderator will lock the thread, so this doesn't clam up the Player Comparisons Board forever.

i dont understand these polls
who would you rather have
who do you think is better
are 2 completley diffrent questions
who would you rather have brings age into account...the kevin durant jason kidd poll for instance is affected by this
are we voting who is better or who would we rather have?

Unfortunately, this is taking up far too much room on the Player Comparisons board. At any given time, there are 8-16 threads open...which simply takes up too much of the first page space for threads.
In the future, just use one thread per bracket. You won't be able to have a poll, but posters can still vote for who they want. You'll probably get more conversation about the players in the bracket as well.
Thanks for your help.

post each bracket in one thread like truelafan suggested. like the daily game thread on the general board, people list their winning picks. the only drawback is you have to manually count the votes. the positives, however, far outweigh the negatives.

yeah, but after I did 16 threads, worked hard on them, and then they tell me I'm only allowed to do one thread? it's like come on, if I was doing Kobe threads, no one would look twice. But because someone put time and effort into their posts and it was a good idea.. it was locked.
I mean honestly, what's so horrible about these threads? Yes I know. duncan vs. Dalembert blah blah blah. But still, there were only one or 2 threads that wern't at all really intriguing
I Asked THREEE times.[size=12][/size for the threads of the southern bracket to be locked, I tried to make the forum as un"spammed" as possible, but because it was a few extra threads and it was official and a good idea, it was blocked. If people made 8 more Kobe threads, no one would even care. The problem ws my threads were linked.
No offence to mods, just a bit of venting..

What you're basically saying is that the moderators have to step in and lock threads for a project that you started and instigated pretty much immediately (we could have told you that having 8 or more threads open at one time is pretty much a lousy idea) because you don't want to insert a post that says--"Time's Up! Voting is Over!" It's not the job of the moderators to clean up for you. Doesn't matter how often you ask. Why didn't you just stop the threads yourself by saying "We're Done"?
As for the "All my hard work to start these threads!"...c'mon, man. You wrote a couple of sentences about each player. And if you didn't want to do the work, why did you do it in the first place? And why are you complaining about not having to do it now?
Finally, this was NEVER shut down. (For God's sake, this thread is still stickied.) You started a project that took up a quarter to a half of the front page threads without asking the mods (or other users) if that was cool or if they minded, didn't want to have the work of stopping the voting, and don't want to continue the project in the completely reasonable way suggested to you. And you're even complaining about the work you had to do!
You had your vent; I've had mine. That's what we're allowed here--one vent session. So that part of this is over. If you want to continue this project in the reasonable way recommended--and you've been encouraged to do so, and had this thread stickied--by all means do so. If you don't...don't. Whatever you choose, stop complaining.
