If You Switched Magic & Larry's Teammates...

Post#1 » by #1KnicksFan » Mon Mar 31, 2008 8:39 pm

Who would've won more chips?

(ie: Magic's teammates are now Parish, McHale, Ainge, DJ, etc, etc.)
(Bird's teammates are now Jabbar, Worthy, Scott, Coop, etc.)

Byron Scott.

I'm sure Bird would play alot of point forward...
If lee is worth #12 then Ron is EASILY worth #5. Sooo...how about:
Malik Rose/#5 for Ron Artest.

Yeah, it works a lot better if you use the Norm Nixon Lakers rather than the Byron Scott version.

That's fine.

I guess the point I'm trying to make, without being too overt about it, is that Magic wouldn't have 5 chips with Bird's teammates, and with Jabbar and Worthy, etc, I think Bird would have gotten 5...

I guess this is a quiet way to see if people think Magic won more simply b/c he had the better role players...

I think Magic still would have won the 5 chips instead of Bird. He'd still have a dominant low-post scorer and another 20 ppg big man beside him, only they'd be better for longer, because Parish didn't decay the way Kareem did because he was noticeably younger.

What about the Boston Strangler Andrew Toney?

The reason why I think the Lakers got 5 titles regardless of who is where is the Celtics had to go thru Dr.J/Malone Sixers and the Moncrief/Lanier/Johnson Bucks.

The Lakers went to IIRC 8 NBA finals in the 80's.

The Celtics went to 5 finals

The Sixers went to 3 finals

Lot more competition in the East at that time........

^ I think that's something ALOT of people TOTALLY ignore when comparing Bird and Magic.

Who the hell did Magic have to go through in the West? Hakeem a few times, Pheonix, and then what? NO ONE.

Bird had Detroit, Atlanta, Philly, Chicago, Milwaukee, etc, etc.

Honestly, I think his 3 chips is every bit as impressive as Magic's 5.

And if Bird had Jabbar instead of Parish, he would've won atleast an extra chip...
