Both USC SG's, who will be the better player?
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Haven't seen Mayo play much but as a Wiz fan I can comment on Nick Young.

Strengths: Very good athleticism...able to create his own shot at will...takes too many fadeaways but shoots them at a high clip

Weaknesses: Lack of all-around game...once went 7 games without an assist

My comment is that Nick Young is a perfect sixth man.

Nick Young feels almost like a Louis Williams type player, IMO. Quick, athletic, and a streaky shooter. Great spark off the bench type player. The edge Nick has over Williams is his size, which allows him to play at the shooting guard spot, while Williams is too small to play at the 2 guard and lacks the skills to be a point guard.

Comparing Nick to OJ is a much harder affair. From what I know of OJ it could be a similar comparison, but I know little of OJ.

Mayo, he's got better all around skills than Young.

Mayo mainly because he seems to have a higher ceiling. At this point in time, we can only judge through estimates and Mayo projects to be the better player.

How is Mayo like Wade? Mayo has a very nice jumper, is a solid defender, but has trouble getting by his man. Wade destroys his man and slashes at will, but has an inconsistent jumper, and his d is definitely one of his weaknesses.

As for Nick Young, a poor man's Kobe (with an emphasis on the "poor man's") is not a bad comparison. He doesn't posses Kobe's play making abilities, but when he's scoring, he does make you think of Kobe, without a doubt.

Nick Young is more like a poor man's Jerry Stackhouse...

OJ is a better ball handler, and much better passer than Young.... He is lesser than Wade in terms of passing/creating for others... But he has more range on his shot than Wade

Stackhouse is a sucky shooter who has a pitiful career clip of 41%/31%. N1 is already shooting 44%/40%.

Young is bigger, more explosive, and a far better scorer. He's quicker as well. Mayo is a better defender now, but Young will be the better defender due to his longer arms and superior quickness.

Gilbert Arenas has noted several times in his blog the comparison between Kobe and Nick Young. Although he said that Kobe has a mentality that Nick doesn't. I think Young will turn into more of a Kevin Martin type player, which he has a realistic chance of becoming.

Currently Young shoots a little too much, but has shown the ability to get to the hole with relative ease. When he becomes more confident as a player I expect him to drive as much as he shoots jumpers.

I feel Young gets unjustly critisized for his strengths as a player. He is a good shooter and when given consistent minutes he has proven to be a very explosive scorer.

In the few games I watched of USC I didn't come away overly impressed with Mayo. He didn't attack the hoop like I thought he would. He impressed me as a shooter, but for as much talent as he has he deferred too much to his teammates.
