Dirk Nowitzki with no hesitation. Hill put up amazing stats but got nowhere. Dirk put up less amazing stats but dominated more and got to the Finals.

Seriously, I agree with Patterns when he said that Dirk could be compared to Smush and Smush would win. Dirk is criminally underrated on these boards.

Hill was supposed to be the next MJ, and was living up to the hype as well. There simply wasn't a thing the guy couldn't do.

For some of those who saw Grant at Duke and and in his prime, silly might be including Dirk in the same conversation.

Please, I remember the Hill in Detroit who was labeled soft, just like Dirk. This man has done nothing to warrant the over the top praise he gets now. Stats, awards, and winning all favor Dirk.

Both are well deserving players of any accolade given them.
Because of the different positions they play it is hard to give a direct comparison.

That being said, my vote is for Grant Hill.
Grant Hill in his prime had all the tools.

If injuries would not of impacted his career I think the discussion around him would be is he a Top 50 player of all time.

Grant Hill...

He was a dominate player and his "greatness" is not a myth...is this thread about where the player took their team, or who was/is the better player?

In this thread alone someone stated he was earning his comparison to Jordan. There are posters that actually think he was better than Rick Barry. LOL.

For all of Hill's versatility, why did Dirk out perform him in the regular season and even more so in the post-season. Why has Dirk, through 04/05 - 06/07 been much more recognized than Hill ever was in his career? Why did Hill never have as a good as series as the one Dirk dropped on the defending champs.

Versatility is overrated. TD/Garnett have always had a wider range of skills than Shaq, yet at his peak Shaq was clearly better than both men.

After the first six seasons of his career, before his ankle injury, Hill had a total of 9,393 points, 3,417 rebounds and 2,720 assists. Oscar Robertson and Larry Bird are the only two players in league history to eclipse these numbers after their first six seasons.

Only 4 guys in league history, for their career have averaged
22ppg, 8rpg, .580ts, for their career:
Kareem, Shaq, Barkley, Dirk
