And if Kobe loses to Duncan's Spurs? Or Paul's Hornets? Or Garnett's Celtics? Is Kobe still the best in your book?

If Kobe takes Duncan to 7 and loses I would still consider him better this year.

If they lose to the Hornets, then no, and right now the Celtics are having trouble with the Hawks, so let's just leave them out of the discussion right now.

It's all about production on the bastketball court; ya know, the only thing that actually matters.

KNICKS1970, you usually have some good posts but what you wrote didn't make alot of sense to me. When Shaq was at his absolute peak people were arguing Kobe was better? Maybe Bgil, but I don't think anyone would take like a 99-00 Bryant over a 99-00 O'Neal. And the 80s Magic being Kobe to Jordan's LeBron? I don't follow, Magic was leading his team to championships and Kobe wasn't. I guess Jordan=LeBron works in that analogy, though. And Bird=Duncan even though Magic was winning more titles?

How so?

They have the homecourt advantage. Basically taking Duncan 7 games is losing game 7 on your home floor.

Just because Kobe doesn't have to do as much as LeBron doesn't mean he couldn't. Your stats only tell one story, and there is no way to argue them. So why even bother posting since your stats tell you everything you need to know anyways?

It's not about stats. It's about results, and LeBron has gotten them is his team's best player.

Miracle? Really? With the way the East is playing, with these teams being coached by nincumpoops, you think it'd take a miracle?

Well, if by miracle you mean stubborn refusals to trap and double.

it's hard..

the thing I said about Duncan and KG..it's hard to pick either guy as the #1(they are my 2 favorite players too, so I try not be biased), because they don't give as much in the regular season..Kobe and Lebron both had unbelievable regular seasons AND are both having solid playoffs so far..

with Duncan and Garnett..at this age, we don't know if they are still capable of being the best players in the NBA for an entire 82 and the playoffs..just like I'm sure Kobe is gonna slow down in the next few years and take off some of the energy in the regular season(especially with the improved supporting cast)..

Duncan was my #1 last year, but he really didn't give us much in terms of #1 in the L during the regular season..he's shown how good he is in the playoffs, but the saved energy has to be taken into consideration IMO..

as for Paul..he's 5th for me right now, but he could very well be #1 if he manages to beat San Antonio/Phoenix AND the Lakers/Utah..that would be extremely impressive..

all true.."miracle" is overstating it, but I think it would be very unlikely for the Cavs to make the finals..the Celtics and Pistons haven't looked that good, but I'd still be surprised to see the Cavs knock off either team..

While home court is nice, we're talking about the game of basketball, and nothing else.

A lot of things can change the outcome of a series. Elements that are out of Kobe's control. What if in Game 3, the Spurs hit a buzzer beater prayer 3 to win in SA? I think since Kobe had a better regular season than Duncan, and the fact that he was able to take the Spurs to 7 who have had the same group of talent for years is enough for me to know who is better at this point in time.

I'm not hating on Duncan by any means. He was amazing tonight against the Suns. He is a great player and one of the greatest to ever play the game.

I just think it's time people start realizing what Kobe is doing this year, and that we give the guy what I feel he's earned.
