Beasley easily. He has superstar potential, West doesn't.

The only team for whom this might go the other way is the Hornets, because they already have a superstar with whom West has good chemistry.

Michael Beasley will be better, but he won't be a superstar.

I haven't seen Beasley play that much but for some reason everything I read about him reminds me of Lamar Odom... Am I way off the mark here?

He's more athletic than Odom, and he is more physical too.

From what I've seen and read he's the more talented scorer, but what about mentally is he similar to Odom in that regard?

Also isn't it kind of up in the air where he'll play at the next level (the 3 or the 4, but most likely the 3)?

He's a tall guy who can take guys off the dribble in the Odom sense.

He's not as passive as Odom. Odom has the skills to score a lot more than 15 PPG.

He's similar in the sense that he can shoot the ball from the perimeter and take guys off the bounce as this other poster has mentioned.

Difference is Beasley has that Kenyon Martin mentality. He plays with a lot of fire and energy, things you don't really see Odom playing with.

He's a better defender than Odom too.

I see him playing the 4 to be honest with you. He's strong enough to play the 4, and he can pull most other PFs out of their comfort zone with his range.

He can play the 3 too, so his coach may use him differently throughout the season depending on who he's matching up with. He is 6-10 so he's got the size to play the 4. His versatility is part of what makes him a special player.

Edit - He's listed at 6'9.

Beasley isn't a better defender than Odom, he wasn't even mediocre in college, Odom is a decent defender now.

1.6 bpg/ 1.3/spg isn't considered mediocre? I know there is far more to defense than stats, but i've seen Beasley play some tremendous defense at times.

I suppose he'll get exposed on the perimeter at the NBA level, but Lamar Odom hasn't played much defense his entire career.

Beasley can't be judged until he plays in the NBA. West is going North and has had no sings of going South. For now, I'd pick West for the next 3 years.

Really I think West and Beasley have a lot of similarities in there games. I hear some say he be much better. Perhaps David West is the most underrated player in the league. He is a 21 and 9 guy right now. Beasley is going to be much better?
