The only reason McGrady's FG% is so low is because he shot ~39% from the field from Feb - April due to injury. Check the season splits. You might notice his ONLY other season in which he's shot this low from the field he missed significant amount of games. There's a direct correlation between McGrady's FG% and his health (should be obvious).

When someone claims that McGrady never comes within 22 feet of the basket, it becomes blatantly apparent that they're hating.

He's never been elite outside of 2 seasons? McGrady was still an elite player through 05-06; the only reason his PPG went down is because he deferred to Yao the first half of 04-05 and because he was injured for so long in 05-06. From 00-06 there's no doubt McGrady was an elite player in this league.

McGrady has constantly done more with less. There's no way you could argue Anthony is the better player currently.

Melo needs to learn that this game is not all about stats. His character is terrible. T-Mac has a greater impact on the game, all that needs to be said.

People love to rip on Melo all the time for shooting a bad 3-point percentage, but he's shooitng MUCH better from behind the arc than McGrady, who seems to camp out there all day and hit absolutely nothing.

Are you talking about this past season? well I could of sworn he had knee and shoulder injures while leading his team to 55 wins without Yao. You talk about all of his bad shooting, but lets talk about the impact, even with him shooting 41%(with and injury may I add, because before the last month of the season he was up to 45%) he still lead his team to more wins, with a lackluster squad then Melo did with a former all star, current all star, the 2007 DPOY, and he is an all star himself.

McGrady's playmaking is vastly overrated. Sure, he keeps his turnovers down, but its because he never comes within 22 feet of the basket! Furthermore, his assist totals were never even that impressive until the past couple years. Half his dimes come off the p'n'r anyhow, not his own slashing and creative ballhandling skills.

Overrated play-maker? So when you get your teammates like Chuck Hayes, Luis Scola, Rafer Alston, Shane Battier involved as the primary scorers, then I can see how he can be a overrated playmaker  sigh

Yah he uses the pick and roll, but he also attracts double teams like a magnet, you can say the same for Steve Nash, Chris Paul, LBJ, and Deron, they all use the pick and roll, does that mean its a bad method? His court vision is greater then Melo's , WAY greater, but how come McGrady who handles the ball about 90% of the time for the Rockets has a less turnover average, than Melo who well doesn't quite handle the ball as much as Mac? Melo who plays with a much higher tempo team should have a higher assist average, then McGrady who plays on the one of the slowest teams in the league, who along with the elite PGs, and LBJ is one of the best cross court passers in the league. The bottom line is McGrady gets his teammates involved, teammates that if Melo had would be a lottery team every year.

You can rip on Carmelo all you want for being turnover prone, but its because he plays in the paint. It's bound to happen that way. When you play closer to the basket you have more turnovers and a higher FG%. It's a simple give-and-take. I'll take the one extra turnover a thousand times if you're gonna give me a guy nearly shooting 50% (and improving every year on that mark) from the wing position. His TS% is ten points higher! That's the difference between LeBron James and Yi Jianlian!

Your bound to average that much in the post? then how come Kevin Garnet, Tim Duncan, Pau Gasol and Carlos Boozer, who are considered *worse* ball handlers then Melo have such a low turnover average compared to Melo?
You'd take an extra turnover a thousand times you say? Ha, I can now see why the Nuggets play SOO FREAKING AMAZING.

And don't tell me that McGrady has a crappy FG% because he's the only guy on the team. Yao is there stuffing the middle. Battier is a very solid spot-up shooter. If he was such the phenomenal playmaker that he gets credit for, we would eb talking more about the Rockets roleplayers and how he gets them involved. he doesn't. Bottom line.

His FG% fell in the last month of the season, again do some research before you pull facts like these out of your ass. He was shooting well over 44% before his shoulder injury.

MgGrady only puts up the points and assist totals that he does because he consistently has one of the highest usage rates in the league. You're bound to average 21-6 if you hold the ball the entire game. But shooting 41% and having a 2-1 ast:to ratio is not an impressive way to do that!

Your bound to average that much? what about Rondo, Marbury, Fisher, and Jason Kidd? I don't see them putting up 20-6. Again you talk about the FG%, but if you had any idea, he was shooting 45% before his injury which was during the infamous 22 game winning streak.

Gimme Carmelo now and forever. He's younger, more aggressive, a better rebounder, and an infinitely better scorer.

Yeah thats why the Nuggets are fed up and want to get rid of him. McGrady's talent level is on that of Carter, Kobe, LBJ, and Pierce. Melo isn't a all around player, all I see is a 6'6 version of AI who unfortunately absolutely sucks at defense and playmaker, sorry thats even worse.

People are still jockriding McGrady because he had two phenomenal seasons on a squad full of scrubs. He's never been the same since and people refuse to ackowledge it. He kills your team. Face it.

The MVP voters don't think so, when they have voted McGrady in the top 10, 6 out of the past 7 years. Kills your team? I don't understand why you can't say the same about Melo, who has a team that has FAR FAR more talent then McGrady ever has had. Its not just two phenomenal seasons btw, you can go back to his Orlando days where he had a team filled with a bunch of D-leaguers. So McGrady kills our team, lets think about this correctly, the Rockets winning percentage since 2004(McGrady's arrival) is about 25% WITHOUT McGrady. While with him the Rockets are over 65%, if he was health the entire season, the Rockets along with Yao would on average 58+ wins a season.

Again, many people will agree, this was McGrady's worst season, yet, he again gets top 10 in MVP voting, and makes the all NBA 3rd team, WITHOUT being an all star. Funny, has Melo even been a top 10 vote getting in his entire career, nope.
