If Jay Williams doesn't ride a motorcycle after his rookie season where do you think he would rank vs the PGs today.
Coming out of Duke I thought he was easily the best player in the 2002 draft. I thought he'd be a top 10 PG throughout his career with a shot at the upper echelon in the current NBA.
Where do you feel he would have progressed had he not suffered his career ending injury?

Jay Williams minus the motorcycle?

The lockout affected them all a little differently, a couple of them went completely stark raving nuts.

I believe Williams was well on his way to being in the top 10 of point guards in the league. He had a pretty good rookie year and had tons of potential to be great. Its extremely unfortunate we didnt get to see how good he could really be but I'm glad he's involved in other things still and didnt let it destroy his life

He had an average rookie season and showed little signs of being a point guard. he was really more of a shooting guard who couldn't shoot (39%). Because he had that explosive first step and quickness, everyone thinks he would have been a great PG, ignoring the fact that he had average court vision at best and couldn't shoot.
Even given some improvement, he wouldn't have been in the CP3/D-Will/Nash claass as a PG. He probably would have ended up being more of score-first PG. IF he had been able to improve his shooting %, he may have been Arenas-lite.

Well I thought he was the top player in that draft too, but he was extremely disappointing as a rookie. I mean, Amare Stoudemire was an extremely raw high school player, and he easily out played the ready-as-you-can-get Williams as rookie.
Now with that said, top 10 PG is not a very high bar. I could easily see Williams hit that, it's just that if he were the #10 PG in the league at peak, he'd have been considered a bust considering his hyep.

I agree and don't believe he would ever have learned how to play the point.
