You are right, the Nuggets are lead by a bad leader THEIR COACH. He is a team cancer and didn't bother to install a team concept.

I think it was 2005, he lead a team of Kmart (playing on one knee) / Himself / Camby / Greg Buckner / Andre Miller to the playoffs and a Division crown. Now that is a bad team, yet he accomplished that. But leading a team to the playoffs and Division crown isn't good, right?

Uhh.. when has Melo ever been on an elite team? On team USA he seemed to be doing well. This year in Denver, they were not elite and Karl had AI play the #1 option.
In the 2006 season, as the #1 option, Melo was scoring 30+ on 50% with 4+ assist before AI came. That's with only one shooter in the line up with him. Make him the #1 option on a team with shooters and he could have 6 to 7 assists easy while scoring real efficiently. I think that's what everyone wants in a #1 option on an elite team, yes?
If it wasn't obvious, I'd take the proven player who could be top 5 with an intelligent coach and some shooters on his team, over the unproven pick.

Add the fact that it's a tourney that is predicated on guard play so often and it's virtually impossible
Bottomline is that Beasley was more productive and projects to play a position that is valued more at the next level than Melo.
And even though Melo is a top 25 player in the league right now, the fact that Beasley has top 5-10 potential is why a team wouldn't trade the #1 for Melo.
We pretty much know what we are getting from Melo.
Beasley at least has potential to reach that ceiling and again at a position that is more desired.

He's not a true big though, it's disingenuous to pretend he's going to have a true bigs impact on a game, because he's a big man that can't even defend his man, much less defend the paint.
Also, he scores a lot like Melo, he's not a back to the basket scorer, he is a face up post guy, and more of a combo forward.
Melo grabbed 10 rebounds a game on a great team, Beasley won't stick out as a guy that dominates the glass either, and the fact that melo is getting 7.5 on the wing is very valuable, all things considered with the Nuggets.
Melo was basically the best scorer in the league before he got paired with another top 5 scorer. I'm not going to bank on Beasley being a top 5 scorer without him getting on the floor.

I don't know if this makes a difference, I know everyone speaks of rose, before the all american game i banked on beasley for the game, his rep is he only steps up when important. His influence was the greatest in that game. He won the MVP. But I've always liked him.
A couple of weeks back I was talking basketball with this guy, I was saying how teams are tanking for the no. 1 team. I was saying Id tank for Beasley, but my team has Arenas so we don;t need rose. We also have caron and Jamison so beasleys role would probably be at the SF position ( like a turkoglu type player, carmelo or Lebron) A big SF.
So this guy tells me that Beasley (who he actually coached when he was younger) was his god brother, I asked him Beasleys size, how he'd do in the pro's , whether it was really true that Durant and beasley played together when young ( cause he coached Beasley) and how do they compare.
What he told me is Beasleys training in Philly ( I don't know where) He told me Beasleys like 6'9/ 6'10. Big hands, is a prankster, is better than durant because of his frame. Also told me the last thing which is relevant to this thread. That beasley went to denver with an NFl player, and ended playing pickup ball in the nuggets facility in a closed session with carmelo and Kenyon, and apparently was doing so well that George Karl snuck in to see for himself. Was impressed by Beasley enough to say that Beasley and Melo together are enough to win the Ship. Beasley isn't your ordinary college player, he's had a better season in college than Durant or Melo I think as far as performance, and teams focused on him as well. So who knows, I like all of them but I like beasley alot just because of what he could possibly do. Even though I concede carmelo is underrated, he's a better defensive player than Lebron, they're both questionable defensively. Lebron though makes his teammates better.
