Moses vs Duncan
Who's better?
(no who's higher on the GOAT list; just who's a more impactful player)

I like Duncan's impact on the defensive end, which Malone didn't have, as defense is the most important thing to me from a big man. You can get offense from other positions, but a defensive big man can change the entire game and affect an entire team, both yours and your opponent's.

I'd probably take Duncan over the Mailman because his impact on both ends is greater than Malone's impact on both ends.

Erm... from the top half of your post you're clearly talking about Moses Malone, yet from your bottom part of your post you're talking about Karl Malone.

If the question is strictly who's a better player and impacts the game more, I think it's Moses without question. I have Moses above Duncan on my list of greatest players ever, and Duncan is close only because of his rings.

Duncan is easily more impactful. Moses scores. Moses rebounds. And he does those things very well, particulary the rebounding. But Duncan's the better shotblocker, man defender, and team defender. He's a vastly better passer. He's so good that you can build a whole system around him. He's such a defensive force that you can anchor your d around him. He's also an excellent rebounder. He's tall, takes up space, uses his reach very well and positions himself well.
I love Moses' ability to get to the free throw line at will. That's a huge plus for him, and he can make his ft's, too. I'll give him the rebounding over Duncan. He's more physical than duncan, too, which is a plus. As scorers, yea Malone scored more, but Duncan has a very effective offensive game. I'd say more diverse, too. Duncan can be physically overmatched in the post (i mean when duncan is on offense), but it takes somebody with amazing strength (shaq, karl malone) to do it.
Overall, Duncan's more impactful. Both great players. Can score and rebound. But Duncan can do much more, and the Moses' pros don't outweigh Duncan's overall impact to me.

Mosses took a 40 win team (the team won 40 with Mosses so they are most likely on par with a WNBA team or an ACC team w/o him) to the NBA Finals playing .500 ball vs Magic and Bird.
Can Duncan take u of Memphis or KU to the NBA Finals?? What Mosses could do is simply win a 7 game series by himself vs the defending champion. His ability to take over a game and dominate it is on par with Shaq and MJ. If anything Mosses did what MJ couldnt but since Mosses is a big man I dont hold that against him.

sure, but Moses Malone was also part of teams that were eliminated in the 1st round, 2 of them being the favorites to win, including a 52 win team..also MVP seasons where he was eliminated in the 1st round IIRC..nowadays, you would get crucified for that, see: Dirk Nowitzki..so you have to look at it both ways if you bring up his leadership..
Duncan led a relatively mediocre supporting cast to a championship in 2003 with complete domination..so I can play that card too..except he was arguably the best defender in the NBA at the time as well..

Haha, yeah. Its strange that he would use Moses' ability to win a game by himself when Duncan had the 21-20-10-8 game in finals clincher.
Anyway, Moses' most significant advantages over Duncan are in his offensive rebounding and ability to get the line. That allowed him to score more on a similar or better efficiency.
On the other hand, he wasn't even close to Duncan as a passer even though he was more turnover prone and he doesn't hold a candle to Duncan as a defender, or even a defensive rebounder. I'd say that Duncan't low-post based game and passing ability make him the more effective offensive force and defense isn't really up for debate.

This statement is correct.

I'll take Duncan, but it's certainly a tough one. IMO Malone was clearly the better of the two for the five seasons or so he was at his best in the late '70s/early '80s. But Duncan, while never as dominant as Malone in any single season, has maintained an elite level of play for 12 seasons thus far and, barring injury, will likely continue to do so for another 3 seasons or so. I'd rather have 15 years of almost unstoppable than 5 years of actually unstoppable, hence the Duncan pick.
