haha Isiah is not better than Kobe. The titles/accolade argument can only be used for players of similar impact. i.e KG/Duncan, Hakeem/Robinson

For me, Lebron hasn't done enough yet, but I think he'll eventually crack the top five

I second this list, although I'd think long, hard and creamy about putting Hakeem over Kobe

Says a Lakers fan...(if I am going by posts)

Again, we have different opinions. I just refuse to get on my knees and do you know what for Kobe...

I'm not a Lakers fan and if you go by posts, find one where I favored the Lakers. Go ahead. I didn't even put Kobe in my top 5 in this thread so I have no idea where have you say I'm a homer...

Isiah is clearly inferior to Kobe. It's obvious; it's supported statistical evidence. The only thing Isiah has over Kobe is a Finals MVP and it's debatable who the best player on those Piston teams.

And pertaining your post about "won multiple awards, and been arguably the best player at their position for long stretches", that doesn't even apply to Isiah. He was never arguable the best at his position; the years he was 1st team all-NBA, Magic was the best. And the years he won the titles, Magic won consecutive MVPs while Isiah didn't even make an All-NBA selection. He has 1 real award: Final MVP. If you want to count his All-Star MVPs, ok he has 3.

How about by position?

PG - Chris Paul
SG - MJ
SF - LeBron
PF - Duncan
C - Shaq

Or is it too soon to call Chris Paul the best PG drafted since 1980? Does he go ahead of Isiah Thomas?

How many times did Kobe play the Bulls in finals? 0

How many championships has Kobe won with out Shaq? 0

You fail.

The title teams: Dumars and Isiah have almost the same PER and PPG. Isiah was obviously the better playmaker but he also turned it over twice as much as Dumars while Dumars was the vastly better defender and more efficient scorer.

Each have a Finals MVP but in the title years, Dumar was 2X all-NBA Defense and 3rd team All-NBA; Isiah got nothing.

In those years ('89 to '90), Isiah was 17th and 13th in MVP voting. Dumars were the exact same.

Stats don't reflect reality in this instance (just like the Stockton v. Thomas comparison on this same page). Most who watched the bad boys Pistons wouldn't argue that it was Dumars ' team.

Thomas was considered the leader, and Thomas was universally accredited for the team's success.

Hell, google "bad boys pistons" and the first result is:
http://www.nba.com/pistons/history/Isia ... _Boys.html

Thomas may be a pathetic person but he was the man in Detroit. Dumars was a good player/great defender but he didn't take over games as consistently as Thomas.

Stats measure the impact of each person on the floor. Obviously it can't measure the intangibles but it's objective.

Thomas is the leader but that doesn't mean he's was their best player. He carried the offense load and was clutch; it doesn't mean he was the best. Pierce is the Celtics' captain while providing the clutch offensive performances while KG had Dumars' kind of "role": great defense and efficient shooting.

If Isiah was that much better, he would have more MVP voting and all-NBA selections during the repeat years.
