Clippers Vs. Nuggets
Wow, another wonderful frontcourt match up, not only do you have at the very least 2 of the top 3 greatest C's of all time, but two legitimate GOAT candidates with wonderful resumes.
I love the balance of both of these squads, I think the Clippers are the better defensive team, but I like the Nuggets offensive firepower to go with that balance. I think the Wilt/Kareem matchup won't be a dead lock, I think Wilt is going to give Kareem lots of trouble, he always had trouble with physical guys, and Wilt in his prime would be as physically imposing on both ends as anyone, forcing Kareem away from the basket on offense, winning the rebounding battle, and getting into the paint on offense, even drawing some double teams.
Dennis Rodman should be able to clamp down on Buck williams, and neither will get a lot done offensively, but the Worm will be able to switch off on perimeter players on pick and rolls much better, and will help Wilt dominate the glass again.
Bobby Jones and Rick Barry.... it's one of those matchups where you just hope Jones can slow Barry down, and he probably can, but Barry will still get some offense going, with Wilt drawing double teams away, and two other great shooters to space the floor for him.
I like Joe D heads up with Reggie overall, he should win this match up in the stat book, but Reggie is known for clutch heroics in the playoffs, and raises his level of play into the elite category, even when he wasn't an elite player.. again, I like Joe D here, but Reggie is dangerous.
Mr. Big Shot is another guy who is going to hit some shots, I think he fits really well with this team, and will be nice setting the table, but GP is a much better player, and will probably shut him down from creating a lot, and he will be turned into a spot up shooter. Chauncey can stop GP from going off too though.
I like Eaton off the bench for the very few minutes he will play.... and I don't see anyone off the bench that can hope to stand against Wilt, and I like Amare and Eaton together.... small advantage to Denver.
Overall, I like the Nuggets squad, I think the defense will be stifling for La, but they will go through periods where they can't get things going with Wilt forcing Kareem out of his game, and I think Wilt is going to do well, which will open up everything for his team.
Verdict: Nuggets in 6. I think they stifle the Nuggets for two games and steal them, but other than that, Clippers can't muster the offense to keep up.
Heat Vs. Cavaliers
I love Michael Jordan, he's my GOAT, he's the player I would take first etc etc.
That said, I love the Heat construction, and I'm not a fan of the Cavs. I do like the front court, and Jordan, but Tiny and Nique aren't great fits here, and they aren't great defenders to boot....
I like how the Heat blend together on offense, and they will be out and running, and when they aren't, Tiny is going to get posted up by any of these guys he tries to guard, and Nique won't be effective defensively against whoever he is matched on.
Yao is a hard cover, but Deke is the perfect guy for the job, and McAdoo and Mchale would probably be a nice matchup.
Overall I think the free flowing offense will be all over cleveland, and they will do the better job defending on the wings...
Heat in 5, Mike goes for 60 in one in Cleveland.
