Better Defender: Moncrief VS Bowen

Post#1 » by The Main Event » Thu Jun 12, 2008 4:41 pm

In your opinion who is the better defender?
Also, who would defend the other man better? Moncrief defending Bowens offense or vice versa??

Bowen has virtually no offense so that one is easy. I think Moncrief was the better defender, sometimes his opps have big games but sometimes he just plain shut guys down. Bowen seems smart and athletic but doesn't really take guys out of their game to the same degree . . . .but that may be through the rose colored glasses of memory. Still, I'm going Moncrief.

I think that Moncreif's effect on the game in terms of disrupting an entire offense tips it to his favor. Bowen shuts down a person and takes a person away, Moncreif completely shut down a team's offense the way perimeter players rarely do.

People were listing Moncrief as the best (perimeter) defender they've seen. I'm pretty sure this will be a clean sweep for him.

Moncrief. Two time DPOY and the best perimeter defender of all time. How rare is it for a perimeter defender to win ONE defensive player of the year, let alone two.

Monicref, easily.

Bowen is an atrocious defender. He would foul out in the first quarter of any other league on earth.
