Still, tsherkin, we shouldn't even be talking about how good Kobe's teammates were. Bottom line was he went 6/19 for 17 points in a loss after his team was up 24. He was not decent.

Tonight he was much better, but that sub 40% shooting and allowing Pierce go for 38 isn't going to cut it.

Another great game 8-21 6TO game for the most overrated player in sports history.
He is mentally weak - that is another facet that is ignored in this absurd comparision. Even a dummy like Mark Jackson said that Jordan would have figured out that he has to take over in the last 2-3 minutes of a tight game.

^To be fair, Kobe came through with that big steal when it counted.

It is actually a foul when you hit someone's hand/arm -nice of those LA lovin' announcers to miss that.

That's not the bottom line, because it ignores when and how the offense came and did not come from him in the game and just how awful his teammates were.

"Most overrated player in sports history" is a bit much but this game, despite the win, was definitely not a feather in his cap. Kobe's been incapable of delivering the Big Game against this defense, it's been rough and not even "Jordan against the Sonics" rough, just flat-out bad.

I guess we'll just agree to disagree, tsherkin. I think he played terrible in game 4, and I'm pretty sure most Laker/Kobe fans, Kobe, Phil Jackson, etc. would agree with me.

Yup, I agree. I'm a laker fan, and this loss was on kobe. I understand where people can say that the celts played great and the rest of the lakers did bad. And context is important, obviously. But up 24 on your homecourt, the MVP needs to make sure they win that game, no matter what. No excuses. Kobe just settled for all those frekin contested fadeaways from 17 feet. If i wanted a player to do that, I'd just trade Kobe for Dirk (no offense to dirk, hes still a great player lol). Everytime kobe drives, something good happens. Everytime he works to get the ball at free throw line extended, something good happens. The triangle is supposed to make his job of getting the ball at desirable spots easier. And i know the celts have played kobe great, but cmon. All it takes is playing a bit smarter, getting the ball in your comfort zones, and attacking from there. Kobe is talented enough to do that. He needs to do it more consistently in these next 2 games. If he does, the lakers have a chance. I think a very good chance. If he doesn't, celtics win in 6.

One thing I've noticed about Kobe this year in the playoffs is that he can't find a balance. He can go and score 15 points in a quarter. He can get 10 assists in a half. But when he gets 15 points in a quarter, he gets no assists. And when he gets 10 assists in a half, he gets like three points. He seems to decide what he's going to do before he does it, which is a bad thing in this case. He needs to find the middle ground that LeBron usually has, and especially CP3 demonstrated in the playoffs. CP3 would drive, and if you overplayed him, he'd find someone open. If you didn't give him enough attenion, he'd score. Kobe doesn't seem to do that. He's always one or the other, but never a balance. He's gonna need to snap out of it and soon, or else it's over.

Kobe is a choker.

Okay I'm kidding, but people called Dirk a choker after he had a remarkable regular season and playoffs up to the finals.

Kobe is immune to criticism he was just as bad or worse than Dirk in the finals AGAIN but it's always everyone's else fault but his.

Yup. No matter what you think of Kobe's Finals performance (which was unquestionably poor), you have to admit that there is a clear double standard in the way the media and even fans on sites like RealGM treats certain players.

A title absolves you of everything, even if things are clearly out of a players hand, and his teams are never title worthy, he's still a choker.

Get one ring, and you are never a choker.

obviously Kobe had a poor series but Lakers really got exposed for being soft & not being able to play D....not much one man can do about that.

Anther great game 7-22 4 TO 1 STL 1assist 3rb . The entire team is mentally fragile, not just Kobe. I can't imagine what the old bad boy Piston teams would have done to them.

You know what'd be special? IF the boards stopped eating my damned posts...

CBS7, I concede the point. I've had 4 much longer posts just be eaten by these damned new forums, so I'll just leave it at that. He didn't get it done.

I am, but it wasn't because my install is buggy and I've been too lazy to install the 3.0 beta.
