Rondo vs. Stuckey

Post#1 » by magicfan4life05 » Thu Apr 24, 2008 12:19 am

We all know who the better player is now, but who do you think will be the better pg and player in the future?

Stuckey is more of a Combo guard. I think Stuckey has more "offensive potential" than Rondo does but its hard to go against Rondo in this because he's more proven.

Also, with Billups and RIP in front of him Stuckey may not have the opportunity to play 30+ MPG in the near future.

Rondo should certainly win this poll.

Rondo by a fair margin.

The only thing Stuckey might have on Rondo is offensive potential. But that's just potential. It means nothing if they don't work hard.

Everything else, easily Rondo.

Rondo. But who knows maybe Stuckey might turn into something awesome.

You're going to compare a pure PG who gets the benefit of playing with 3 future HoFers to a rookie combo guard who won't see 30+ minutes for at least another 2 years?

That's like comparing Daequan Cook to Chris Paul. Although Chris Paul is a much better player than Rondo... you get the point.

After watching these two players in the playoffs, I pose the question again:

I don't know how fair this. Stuckey is a shoot-first combo guard, so pitting him against a pure, pass-first point guard makes it hard to give an accurate response.

I think Rondo has more potential because, if he adapts a jumpshot, he can control the game in so many ways (scoring, rebounding, passing, defending). But Stuckey showed me a lot this year. He will, IMO, be a far better scorer than Rondo will become, but that is (as mentioned) just one part of the game.

Stuckey. Rondo was a HUGE liability for a large portion of these playoffs, he was easily the weakest link for the Celtics...

From what we've seen, easily Rondo.

Also, Stuckey shot 37% in the playoffs.

I really think they're very different players. Stuckey's much more of a combo guard. It's unfair to Stuckey to compare him to Rondo as a point. Stuckey's best skills fall into a different category.

This is the opposite of what every one of his opponents and teammates have stated, most recently Phil Jackson who said he was the most important player in determining the deciding game.
