WOW, Foye as coming off an injury. A bad injury that almost lost the entire season. Once he got back into the swing of things he looked very, very good. LEt the kid have a healthy summer and season before we judge him.

That's what makes this thread a bit tricky. Making the prediction of who you would rather have in 3-4 years, when Foye is a bit of a question mark.

Can he stay healthy next year? He'll already be 25 next season and if you suffers another injury it would seriously damage his career, even if it's not career ending.

I am not worried about future injuries anymore than I am with other players. It was just an injury. Not an injury history.

3-4 years I go with Foye. Production is similar now, and his ceiling is higher.

His stats next year depends on what MN does in the offseason.

Tekkenlaw wrote:"probably mostly" garbage games? That's also quite the assumption, and that bucks game went to overtime, it looked like they were trying to me.

It's also a little premature to say he's peaked as a player and will only average 2ppg more a game next season considering he hasn't even had a legitimate sophomore season yet. I post those stats because it shows steady improvement, and it makes a lot more sense than looking at season averages and labeling him a role player at 24 years old.

I understand that Blazer fans like to keep the gap between Foye and Roy as wide as possible by degrading him every chance you get, but I don't really understand why since everyone already knows Brandon Roy is the better player.

I never said he peaked, but I highly doubt he will be a 20/5 player this season. There were a select few who accomplished that last season, and Foye isn't close to being on their level at this point in time.

The fact that Foye will be 25 at the start of next season means he's actually a year older than Roy. He can improve, but I don't see this massive, untapped potential that Minnesota fans label him as. It doesn't help that you guys always project him to be better than Roy in the future, because I just find it ridiculous that every player on your team is some superstar in the making.

Well, the difference between your prediction and my prediction is only 2 field goals a game, so I guess we can agree to disagree there. We'll just have to wait and see what he does next season.

I dunno how many times I've said that to Portland fans.

It's a lot more complicated than that. And yes, we will see next season. All I can say is don't hold your breath...

I don't speak for all Blazer fans, but I rarely, if ever, regard role-players and fringe starters on my team as future superstars.

Every fanbase has their set of homers. We all fall victim to is from time-to-time, but I try to stay as level-headed as I can.

OdenRoylma,

The reason we see Foye as having untapped potential is 2-fold
1.) He has all the tools, and uses them in flashes.
2.) He has been seriously injuried and has not had a chance to get into a solid role and use his skills. In the same way that we would not judge Oden off of his year (because he was injuried.) If oden came back from injury and put up 10 and 7 for a month would you be naive enough to assume that is all he can do for his career or would you justify that he showed the tools and potential and just needs the time.

Foye's last 10 games:
18.4 PPG 5.2 APG 3.0 RPG 45.6 FG% 42.3 3P%

Nelson's last 10 games:
16.2 PPG 4.7 APG 4.1 RPG 50.4 FG% 48.8 3P%

Nelson's were in the playoffs and in 3 less minutes.

I actually prefer that everyone sleeps on the Wolves and their young players. They're quietly building a great team.
