Re: Amir Johnson vs Andrea Bargnani???
Andrea Bargnani will have the better career because GMs love to give #1 picks numerous "second" chances.
but i think Amir is better of the two.

Re: Amir Johnson vs Andrea Bargnani???
Andrea became a "bust" last year and he still averaged double figures. This is ridiculous. I agree the man had a bad year but this is complete BS. If it was an American player or a player playing for an American team it would only be a sophomore slump last year. I hate these ignorant comparisons. Amir Johnson has a longer road than Andrea to become a "star".

Andrea hasn't lived up to the #1 pick, but he's still better than Johnson who has surpassed his pick.

That's not a great argument. He played 24 minutes a game, and barely averaging 10 points in that amount of playing time gives him a pretty poor per minute scoring rate, especially for someone who is supposed to be an offensive threat. His percentages went down and he didn't justify his presence on the floor by doing anything else. I'm not ready to call him a bust yet, but he hasn't done anything to shed that label. People aren't just dogging him for no reason.
Amir is pretty much the opposite. Whereas Bargnani has done poorly given decent minutes, Johnson has produced very efficiently given few minutes. His rebound and block rates are very good, and he can be a defensive game changer. But it's not a given that he'll be able to retain his productivity given more minutes, and he's too foul-prone to keep on the floor for very long.
Seems like a random comparison to make, though.

Amir Johnson - 3.8 rpg in 12 mpg.
Andrea Bargnani - 3.7 rpg in 24 mpg.
Hmm...

Re: Amir Johnson vs Andrea Bargnani???
I don't think they can be compared.
Amir was the 56th pick right out of highschool. Last year was the first year he got spot minutes, but he did produce well when given those minutes. Amir will be entering his "4th year" in the NBA, but it will basically be his 2nd year of playing. He was drafted as a 17 yr old 6'9" 210lb SF with great shooting touch out to 3pt land. Since then he's grown to a 21 yr old 6'11" 235lbs PF/C (he should be able to play some against smaller centers with added weight) and has been working with Dave Cowens to develop a post game and back to the basket moves. He has room for growth and should get more minutes with Head Coach Curry than he did under Head Coach Flip Saunders who admitted after a game that he "forgot Amir was on the bench".
Bargnani was the 1st pick and was given playing time right away. Maybe he hasn't lived up to expectations, but I'd give him more time to develop.

Re: Amir Johnson vs Andrea Bargnani???
Amir is to much of an unknown for this comparison to really make much sense. Nobody outside of Detroit has seen the kid play and even we don't know much. He's a freakish athlete that can rebound and block shots, but he's still raw and it's really difficult to project his actual development. He could turn into a taller Shawn Marion or he could be a cross between Stromile Swift and DeSagana Diop.
Bargnani looks like he'll never live up to his draft position, but could be a solid pro.
All that's gonna happen is Bargnani haters & Piston homers will pick Amir while everybody else asks "Amir who?"
