Why would you bump a two and a half year old thread to laugh about it? I don't get it.
and FWIW At the time Calderon and TJ were really impressing as PG's for Toronto.

Man, looking at some of these old PG rankings is crazy. It changed pretty quickly.

For whatever reason LethalJay is bumping up every old Calderon thread.

Re: Do you consider Calderon a top 10 point guard?
Calderon is what I like to call the QBPG
That QB doesn' stand for Queensbridge or Quarterback, though...
"Quintessential Bottom Point Guard"
as in
"Latin dude who always gets penetrated and never does much penetrating himself.
Gross? Try imagining watching it for 82 games a season x_X"
Just kidding, I like Jose, but he ain't top 10. Top 15 maybe, on a more balanced team that requires less of him a la Boston.

The numbers are there but Jack taking his minutes and the constant attempts to trade him by the people here who see him play regularly indicate that he is less than the sum of his stats.
I think if he were in a good situation where they just let him play and accepted the good and bad of his game, he'd have a much stronger case.

Re: Do you consider Calderon a top 10 point guard?
Calderon, as I've said elsewhere, is a fantastic 6th man, just not a starter.
Rondo, Kidd, Billups, a healthy Baron Davis, Wade if he's the PG this year, Devin Harris, Chris Paul, Westbrook, Nelson, Nash, Dre Miller, Tyreke Evans as a PG, Tony Parker, Deron Williams....
And then you've got guys like Steve Blake, OJ Mayo at the point, Mike Conley, Gilbert Arenas when he's a PG....
There are tons of guys who don't post stats quite as pretty as Calderon's but who are more useful to a team in a broader variety of situations. There's no way that Jose can be considered a top-10 PG by any sane talent evaluator. He's monstrously overrated as a starter by anyone who considers him anything but mediocre in that role.
Again, phenomenal 6MOY type player, but really not that good as a starter.

8. Tony Parker
Tyreke Evans, Derrick Rose, Monta Ellis & Stephen Curry, OJ Mayo, Jameer Nelson, and hell maybe even Mo Williams are better than Calderon.

Calderon at one point was a top 10 pg, but half of the Raptors board at the time still didn't want him as the starter myself included. This **** is old.

Why are people still answering this question, it was a sad move done by a poster who is known for doing this. It's a facepalm situation, since the question was asked in 2008.
