Could an all defense team win it all? SEE LIST IN POST

Post#1 » by TokeBulls » Fri Feb 18, 2022 5:31 am

I'm making a list here with the top defenders in the league. I'm leaving off debatable top defenders like Giannis and Embiid, because they are so dominant in offense. I think including one of those easily makes this a contender.

I threw this together quickly, so I'm sure some changes could be made. Feel free to pitch some ideas.

PG - Lonzo Ball/Jrue Holiday
SG - Matisse Thybull/Marcus Smart
SF - Jimmy Butler/Alex Caruso
PF - Draymond/Bam Adebayo
C - Gobert/Bam Adebayo

Could a team like this realistically win it all? Absolutely shut down defense, but no bonafide offensive stars (Jimmy is up there though). I didn't include Jimmy at first, but I updated it to include him.

Yes, this 9-man rotation with 5 all-stars, 3 very high quality two-way roleplayers, and fourth roleplayer who is one of the best man-on-man defenders in the NBA with a combined salary nearly $200 million could win it all

Though swap Holiday and Thybulle in the lineups

They could 100% win it all. Extremely talented, extremely deep, GOAT defensive team and excellent passing team.

Is Bam supposed to be there twice though.
You said to me “I will give you scissor seven fine quality animation".

You left then but you put flat mediums which were not good before my scissor seven".

What do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such contempt?

I think the idea is that Bam backs up both big man positions and yes to responses. Jrue should be starting over Thybulle and they should be the favorites assuming reasonable health (and they have as good or better depth than any team currently in the league to boot).

I think you need to pull Butler and probably Jrue as they're high level scorers.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

This team would surpass the the Bill Russell Celtics for greatest defensive dynasty ever I imagine (not so much longevity but peak).

This team is like the bad boy Pistons on crack. They'd win for sure.

Every single rotation player is all-nba or all-defense. They'd beat everyone's ass.

Jimmy makes this overkill he can be the best player on a title team

Replace him with someone like Mikal Bridges and then it's an interesting question IMO

this is insane 9-man-rotation.serious rule changes would be the result after 2 or 3 chips.
