If the thread is about current Luka, wouldn't it make more sense to actually compare his last, say, two months then? Isn't his in-shape form more indicative of who he is "currently", than the form he was in when he was overweight?

His rTS% from last two months is +0.5, which is still in line with Iverson best scoring seasons.

Something's has to be off.

AI 1st season: -2.3% rTS
AI 2nd season: -0.1% rTS
AI 3rd season: +1.1% rTS
AI 4th season: -1.5 rTS
AI 5th season: -0.6% rTS
AI 6th season: -2.2% rTS
AI 7th season: -1.9% rTS
AI 8th season: - 3.8% rTS
AI 9th season: + 0.3 rTS

These are his first 9 seasons, his usage rate dropped after this. Now let's see Luka.

1st season: -1.9 rTS
2nd season: +2.5 rTS
3rd season: +2.4 rTS

You are either looking at the wrong stats, or using Iverson's late, low usage seasons as his best scoring season? Now matter how I'm looking at it, Luka already has the 2 way superior scoring season at 23, compared to AI's whole career.

AI 8th season: - 3.8% rTS
AI 9th season: + 0.3 rTS

Your stats are wrong, from basketball reference:

1997: Iverson - 51.3 TS%, league average - 53.6 TS%, differential - -2.3 rTS%
1998: Iverson - 53.5 TS%, league average - 52.4 TS%, differential - +1.1 rTS%
1999: Iverson - 50.8 TS%, league average - 51.1 TS%, differential - -0.3 rTS%
2000: Iverson - 49.6 TS%, league average - 52.3 TS%, differential - -2.7 rTS%
2001: Iverson - 51.8 TS%, league average - 51.9 TS%, differential - +0.0 rTS%
2002: Iverson - 48.9 TS%, league average - 52.0 TS%, differential - -3.1 rTS%
2003: Iverson - 50.0 TS%, league average - 51.9 TS%, differential - -1.9 rTS%
2004: Iverson - 47.8 TS%, league average - 51.6 TS%, differential - -3.8 rTS%
2005: Iverson - 53.2 TS%, league average - 52.9 TS%, differential - +0.3 rTS%
2006: Iverson - 54.3 TS%, league average - 53.6 TS%, differential - +0.7 rTS%
2007: Iverson - 54.0 TS%, league average - 54.1 TS%, differential - -0.1 rTS%

You have 1998 as below average, although he was slight positive. You have 2001 as below average, when he was right at 0.0 rTS%. You also excluded 2006, more about it later.

Now let's see Luka.

1st season: -1.9 rTS
2nd season: +2.5 rTS
3rd season: +2.4 rTS

1. You numbers are all over the place again:

2019: Luka - 54.5 TS%, league average - 56.0 TS%, differential - -1.5 rTS%
2020: Luka - 58.5 TS%, league average - 56.5 TS%, differential - +2.0 rTS%
2021: Luka - 58.7 TS%, league average - 57.2 TS%, differential - +1.5 rTS%
2022: Luka - 55.5 TS%, league average - 56.1 TS%, differential - -0.6 rTS%

2. Just to be clear, I didn't try to make a case for Iverson over Luka. Doncic is much better offensive player than AI, he's also a better scorer. I just replied to your question, because Iverson had better scoring seasons than 2022 Luka. I agree that 2020 and 2021 are much better than anything we've seen from Iverson.

3. Yes, I included 2006 season for Iverson (you didn't). Why? Because it's his career high season in ppg and points per possession. I don't know how you can say that it's his low usage season, it's higher usage season than any in his career by all accounts.

I used this site, maybe that was the problem: https://aminoapps.com/c/nba/page/item/year-by-year-league-average-ts/wKgr_EQQspIBPl0l71boaZNMVpbqLvabKb0

Okay, I guess if we are talking about this whole season with today's as a cutoff point, I see your point, but I don't think that really tells us what OP is looking for. I think OP saying "current Luka" really should mean the best Doncic we've seen so far (for a season). Unless someone thinks that at 22-23, he left his peak and will only get worse from here, which wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.
