what are the craziest wingspans in nba history

Post#1 » by falcolombardi » Mon Apr 18, 2022 1:31 am

lately i have been fascinated by looking at players with outlier body types and how it affects their play

do guys with huge feet gain better stability?

do short legs and longer torso lower center of gravity help with power game and post ups ?(i have heard this about shaq, that his legs were short for his height which helped him in some areas)

how much guys with short hands are capped when it comes to develop their handle?

how do big or small hands affect jump shooting?

but the most interesting one is the guys with absolutrly wild wingspan and standing reachs and how much of a difference it does make for them

what players have the most absurd arms in basketball history?

Kevin Willis was an excellent rebounder

I think Wilt is still the gold standard

Rudy Gobert has Wilt beat. He had a well documented 7' 9" wingspan, and a 9' 7" standing reach. It's almost unhuman.

Mo Bamba is 6'11.25" barefoot with a 7'10" wingspan which is +10.75, also has a 9'7.5" standing reach

We don't have measurements for Nate Thurmond, but he had longer standing reach than Wilt. He had to have comparable wingspan to Mo Bamba with similar height.

Mo Bamba and Thurmond have Wilt beat. Wilt's wingspan isn't even too crazy considering his height.

THT and Dwyane Wade for shorties with crazy wingspans.

But really it's Manute Bol standing at the top, alone. 8'6 measured for that celeb boxing match. Nothing has come close since.
