Voted Dumars. Honestly, I love Jones and would be interested to read arguments for him as I think really getting underrated as time goes on, but the indelible impression of the Piston glory years make it hard for me to not side with him.

To be honest, I always liked Dumars more but is there any case for Joe, other than playing for the Pistons? Saying this as a huge Dumars fan, he was very smart basketball player.

Dumars combo guard skills would have allowed him to play well with anybody.

Dumars has better states, more accolades, more team success. Neither guy is a franchise player or #1 option. They both make their best impact as support or complimentary players. Well as a smarter, more consistent, more reliable player Dumars proved to excell in that position. Has Jones ever really been an impactful player to the degree Dumars was? Has he ever played more meaningful basketball than Dumars did with the Bad Boys?

I mean, I prefer Dumars here. I am a fan of his.

What makes him better than Jones, other than playing on better teams though? We should be careful at not giving player too much credit for team success, especially on a team as deep as Bad Boy Pistons. Dumars doesn't have better stats, I was actually surprised at that.

It's so hard comparing the two because Dumars has a much greater legacy than Eddie Jones by just being on those legendary Piston teams.

Eddie Jones might just be the most underrated player in NBA history. Length, athleticism, explosiveness, and a great jumper. One of the better 3+D players in NBA history who can also drop 20 on you. Could you imagine how highly sought after EJ would be today? I think people have truly forgotten how great his defense was, Micheal Jordan has gone on record saying EJ was one of the few who gave him trouble.

Really is a shame Lakers traded him away, but if he stayed on those Lakers team his legacy is so much different than it is today.

Good poll. I've got both in the 16-20 range for SGs.

Edges for Eddie are...

Better career numbers across the board (16.7 vs 15.3 PER | 105 vs 104 TS+ | 100.6 vs 86.2 WS | .147 vs .118 WS/48)

Edges for Dumars are...

2 RNGZ & better defensive reputation (5x All-D vs 3x All-D for Eddie)

One thing that surprised me was how effective from three Dumars was (110 3P+ vs 105 for Eddie) for his era. Was leaning Jones initially, but that shifted my vote to Joe.

Eddie Jones is so underrated that I totally forgot about him on the top 15 SGs convo.
