is just me or is there a surprising amount of sinilarities between these mavs and the 2016 cavs ?

both teams are led by a heliocentric point forward, have great shooting and strong secondary ballhandlers and those cavs played fairlt strong defense in the finals

is not quite the same thingh, luka is not the monster defensive presence of 2016 lebron, brunson is not kyrie, draymond, klay and curry have slowed down (although mavs may have a better defense overall than those cavs)

but is a interesting fascimile of that finals, wonder how differently warriors will aproach it now than 6 years ago and what will dallas do differently than cavs did

since i actually expect kidd to try a lot of the thinghs cavs did in 2016 or 2015 such as tiring out curry in defense and ignoring warriors non shooters and dare them to make shots

It's probably more similar to Rockets 2019.

If warriors can get OPJ and GP back it will help a lot. right now our depth is really poor without those 2.

The Warriors didn't have a strong secondary ball handler in 2016. Klay and Dryamond can't make moves with the ball on the floor unless they're wide open.

Curry was the only guy that could put the ball on the floor, but now he has Jordan Poole who can do the same.

That's the big question. Can Poole actually get minutes and make an impact? So far in 2 series he's been outstanding in the first 3 games and then the other teams adjust and he's been a non factor in games 4 and beyond.

Yep. Teams just smother Steph and dare the other guys to make a move. Steph has had to work his butt off when off the ball because the other guys haven't been able to get any anything done. The hope is that when Jordan Poole is on the floor teams have to play honest defense against Curry.

That's the hope. It's going to be funny again to hear the narratives that the Mavs are a 1 man show and the Warriors are STACKED with offensive firepower and Curry is the only one getting doubled while Luka doesn't.

In addition to Lebron being better than Doncic on defense (and I'd say on offense as well), I'd say Kyrie and Thompson's skillsets are unique compared to what the Mavs can bring, along with Love although he wasn't that good in 16 finals. The Warriors could be worse thn 16 version though.

I expect Mavs to struggle on offense for same reason as Rockets against the Warriors, while if the series is competitive will come down to if the Warriors also can't score. I've got Warriors in 5 with their real hardest matchup to get to finals being the Grizzlies, where they got a little help with Morant injury but had been outplaying them heavily through 3 games anyway, and we know the Grizzlies are dangerous without him as well.

Actually reminds me a lot more of the 2015 WCF than anything. Warriors are not as deep but probably better at the top. Dallas sort of has the same approach as Houston but don't have to muck around with Howard, Luka is better than Harden was then too.

Ultimately I think this series will come down to how Dallas can matchup against he Warriors offensive machine. I don't think they have the individual defenders or a guy like Steven Adams that Memphis did, and Luka can be attacked if he's tired late in games.

I worry about the Dallas getting fatigued over the course of the series and late in games, seems in their losses that has been a big problem, and Warriors will exploit that with their pace.

The 2016 Finals were just weird.

This is alot like 19 Warriors VS Rockets series actually.......

Luka a better version of Harden
Jalen a worse version of Cp3
Dinwiddie has Gordons role
Dfs the versatile switch defender anchor like Tucker
Powell the lob threat pick and roll big like Capela

3&d players everywhere and constant switching............finna attempt 70 3s a game
