how impactful was pete maravich?

maravich is one of the players with the biggest gulfs between team succes and reputation, probably the player with less team success in the whole top 75 list

his team results were fairly unimpressive, the stats look unimpressive at a first glance amd there is a lot of talk of him as a unimpactful player

is all of that the case? or is somethingh else not seen with pistol pete? how impactful was he actually in the basketball court?

looking at the thoughts of the posters with more expericence on pre merger basketball lile doctor mj, 70's fan, penbeast, etc but i would love to see everyone thoughts here

I think he was low end all-star player at his best in New Orleans. It seems that he had positive impact on those weak teams, but it wasn't anything to rave about.

I think he was clear negative in Atlanta. Hawks were on pace to become another great team in 1970 and they lost Caldwell, drafted Maravich and their potential dynasty ended before it started.
