Jay T is gonna be so good. I definitely can see him and D-Mitch being top-10 and MVP caliber players at some point.

This last draft brought some elite talent to the league. We're gonna be in good hands.

Jayson Tatum is going to be a superstar. He is already the most NBA ready rookie I have seen in a long time. He's 6'8, sneaky athletic, has 3 pt range, incredible shot making ability in isolation, he can drive, he can pull up from midrange, he has back to the basket game, he's an excellent defensive rebounder, is gonna be solid defender (rookies are never quite good), he is a willing passer and he knows his role on the team. That guy doesn't have a glaring weakness in his game and he is a rookie.

I'm so hyped right now, the Celtics are back!

is this your first year watching basketball. if not you must be half blind or something. tatum looks great but best rookie season ever is beyond hyperbolic knee jerk into absurd territory.

also, calling harden a future star in 2012 when he had one of the best seasons weve seen from a 6th man followed by an even better playoffs after being a top pick doesnt quite make you some kind of devine eye for talent. i mean its not like you called isiah thomas or jimmy butler or manu ginobili or some late second rounder early on

So let me get this straight, it was easy for me to predict 6 years ago that Harden was going to end up as a superstar and yet it's my first year of watching basketball? That makes sense. Obviously I'm time traveling so my first year extended from 2012 to 2018

I started that thread in January, before Harden was ever called a great starter, let alone had a great season. You can see tsherkins posts at the time which were pretty good indicator of how the public felt.

To be clear I said the best rookie I've ever seen, not the best ever (that would be Kareem by far). He's probably the best freshman though.

you called a #3 overall pick becoming a superstar during a year where he had one of the great seasons for a 6th man... i mean good call, but its not some unreal prediction like harden was taken in the second round or something.

likewise, unless you are 1 year old, youve seen better rookies then tatum

Yes, Tatum will be at least a star. Question is if he will be a superstar.

He's clearly been more of a forward. Nevertheless Boston will be fine. They are young and deep. Maybe time to come off the picks, considering Sacramento might be the only guaranteed high pick. The others with their restrictions might not yield much or anything.

Harden is just below a superstar. Unless you define superstar status more loosely..then we have like 10 superstars in the league.

Right, avging 17 pts in the first two months of the season was one of the greatest seasons ever. Easy call. Get real dude.

Tatum was the 3rd best rookie this year.

Pretty nuch every top tier rookie of all time was on a completely trash team, it’s weird using playoff performances as the judging factor.

He played some heroball near the end, but I've seen enough to predict future MVP. He has 1st team All-D potential in addition to obvious scoring gifts.

If he can improve his playmaking he can be the best player in the league. Scoring just comes natural to this dude. He can just sleepwalk into 30 points. And his size/athleticism makes him a tough matchup on defense because he can switch/guard a lot of different players.

Super humble dude too. Great attitude and effort, doesn't skip plays on either end or think it's about him vs. everyone else.

Well, he's the closer for the team. It doesn't always work out, lol. Nobody is perfect.
