Agreed personally, but LA Bird has been consistent with how he's done it and I think by doing it this way he makes it 100% fair. That said I have some responses I want to make to people but the next thread isn't up yet and I don't like having discussions in old threads about players still on the board (unless Moses won here but I don't think he did).

I tallied up the votes and without Mavsfan the count goes to:

49 Mikan - 13.5
83 Moses - 13
08 Kobe - 12.5

With Mavsfan it's:
08 Kobe - 17
83 Moses - 14
49 Mikan - 13.5

So it's whatever. Personally I like the strong showing for Mikan because he's coming up soon on my list and he's already showing strong as the only player with 3 first place votes while Moses and Kobe have 2. Also our votes are getting more and more spread around. I like to see this it means the discussion has clearly changed some minds and can continue to do so. Next thread I'm going to ask for a case for KD because his one first place vote stands out and he's not close to my top 20. I think he doesn't really have a case over Kawhi, Grant Hill, and Rick Barry at his own position.

Mikan may have had three first place votes... but he had three votes total. Whereas Kobe was all over the thread, even if the exact season was split three ways. The result is what the result is, but even speaking as someone who might be able to do the same for Nash shortly, winning with only three total votes should not be something which inspires much confidence.

EDIT: And Mikan was not even in the last project, so if that is the result, he would jump from being outside the top forty to being in the top twenty. Based on three votes.

Final totals as at the deadline are:

1) 08 Kobe = 21.0 points
2) 83 Moses = 16.0 points
T3) 49 Mikan = 13.5 points
T3) 14 Durant = 13.5 points
5) 90 Ewing = 10.5 points

08 Kobe wins.

Spoiler:
tone wone didn't include any reasoning so his vote wasn't counted.
Mavericksfan's vote came after the deadline so it wasn't counted either.
JoeMalburg had the 48 and 49 season as the first vote for Mikan. Normally, a two season vote won't be counted but I will make an exception here because the rules never stated whether NBL seasons are counted. Since NBL is not treated as a merger like the ABA and their records aren't officially recognized, Mikan's 48 season is not counted. This will only be counted as a first place vote for 49 Mikan.

Edit: Note that the vote weights are 4.5, 3, 2 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place votes.
The tally by E-Balla in post #102 counted the votes as 4.5, 2, 1 and hence had a different total.
