14 points on three trips. That wound up being the game there.

Yep. That, and the constant fouling on Butler at the end

Anyone else having déjà-vu moments from 2018 when the ending unfolded?

I never thought going into this series I'd be this anxious if they were up 3-2. I'm actually surprised at how anxious I am waiting for game 6 to arrive. When LBJ and AD do that and they still lose, and AD being questionable, or at best maybe not 100%. I'm wondering how this is going to end.

They have to play with more urgency on defense throughout the game. Duncan Robinson got way too many open looks from guys ball watching. The Heat also seemed to get a lot of second chance opportunities and they seemed to capitalize on them most of the time. Far too many lapses on defense. They really need to ratchet up the defensive intensity because I don’t see another virtuoso performance from Lebron. They need next game to be a slugfest.

Following the game, I opted to stay away from RealGM and its hot takes for a few hours.

Either way, that was excruciating. Between the foul on AD, the Green brick, and the Morris lob into the Andromeda galaxy, it really just felt like such a botched ending. Everything that could have gone wrong in the final 27 seconds, went wrong. Lakers had it within their grasp and let it slip away - even worse, it wasted a legendary LeBron performance. Argh.

Still - the story of the season has been epic bounce back games after tough losses. Jimmy, Robinson, and LeBron will probably regress back to their respective means and the LA role players will step up. I predict the Lakers take game 6.

Lack of shooting and wing defense. Two main concerns that I had a year ago

Why do you guys think LeBron won't play great again? Sure he probably won't shoot 70% from 3, but i expect the usual LeClouseout performance on sunday.
I predict something like 36/8/10.

Wish lebron just tried to take a 3 to win it.

Lebron, AD and kcp shot 11/22 from downtown. Rest of the team 3/16. They were the only 3 that showed up in every way.

Add greens 2/5 and everyone else was 1/11.

I think it’s really hard for him to get to the rim right now, especially with some of these lineups. So without the three dropping I dunno it’ll be really tough.

At this point it's not about Lebron or AD. Role players have to step it up, especially on defense

Yes Lakers wing D is easily the worst part of their defense. The best wing defenders are guards who tend to get mauled by any guard or wing who plays with some physicality. If the Clippers made the ECF It would have been Kuzma or Morris guarding Kawhi and Paul George and from what they have both shown guarding Butler it would have gotten ugly. Clippers should absolutely be kicking themselves they missed this version of the Laker as they might have wing defense next year.

Without Avery Bradley as well their guard defense has also been not so great. Harden, Murray, Westbrook, Robinson and Butler have now gone nuclear on the Lakers and only Lebron has been able to put up some degree of resistance against them

Lebron leads the Lakers in 3 point attempts and tied with KCP in makes in the PO

Lakers are favoured by -5 next game. Think thats the lowest spread it has been in the finals. Yesterday lakers were -7.5 for game 5.

Not sure why the drop. AD hurt?

Butler's odds to win FMVP were 24/1 after game 4. Sucks I missed it

Lol Kuzma D's up Butler better than Morris. How is someone that's known to be so tough actually so physically weak
LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

Tbh the only guys I really care to see back next year are Bron, AD, KCP, and Caruso. Everyone else pretty much ranges from replaceable to needs to go. Sure maybe bringing back Dwight if you can get him on a cheap deal would be nice but he’s getting up there in age and who knows if he’ll play with the same motivation next year.

I’m pretty much done with Green. He’ll be another year older and you can find someone else to shoot on less than 47% TS (on mostly open looks) and play decent team defense in the playoffs for far less money. If you can package him in a trade you do it. Rondo’s been decent in the playoffs on the whole but the longer it goes on the more he’s started to look like his awful regular season form. I’d still rather have a guy like Collison in his place if possible. McGee can be replaced with virtually any big body. I’m not confident in Kuzma looking any better at all. Please don’t bring back Morris; he’s the clear defensive weak link in every single lineup he’s a part of. I don’t really care to bring back Bradley either.
