Re: PC Board OT thread
Te spurs annoy me because it seems half the posters on this board would cheer against their own team because of " the divine, tear inducing unselfishness in which a group of heroes can overcome talent by believing in themselves and working hard. "
The media loves the spurs and has ever since 2013, and the way people wax poetically is something like they are te darlings of the nba. They went from being treated with respect but not well like to being the what the Vatican is to Rome.
I want to see what kawhi can do on his own.
Sign with Phoneix please Aldridge.

Obviously I'm talking about Aldridge. I can't know exactly what's happening, but do we really think the Spurs trade Splitter if they haven't been told informally that he's in?
I understand it's possible they just decided Splitter wasn't worth the salary...but that doesn't see like them.
I also understand that a team may make moves simply in hope - I feel like the Suns are doing that - but again, that doesn't seem like the Spurs. Quite frankly, imagining what's in Pop's head, this thought comes to mind:
"If Aldridge isn't sure whether he wants to come to us or to Phoenix, then maybe he's not a good fit with us at all. If he's considering leaving Portland for Phoenix, then that sounds like an ego trip. I don't need an ego like that here."
Still my guess is he signs in San Antonio, and that they do good things with them, but I feel like the dude has really exposed himself in the past few months as a guy who gets butthurt without good reason and as someone who can be manipulated through transparent flattery.
I agree 100%.
I think LMA has made it a bigger sideshow than Dwight a couple of years. I mean meeting the Lakers twice or going for a meeting with Riley (not that I am complaining about that one lol) just seems odd to me.
I really can't believe that he's torn between the Spurs and the freaking Suns. The same Suns who have no sense of direction, haven't really shown that they can build a team, and with an owner who has history of being super cheap.
This is from Bill Simmons and he summed up this situation perfectly:

It's pretty much Leonard + Pop vs. the Suns and LMA can't decide lol.....
If I'm LaMarcus Aldridge, the last 10 years of history and all the titles with Duncan are in a large sense a negative. If I sign with the Spurs and they don't win as Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker slide into gentle retirement, I'm the failure that couldn't keep the DRob, Duncan tradition alive. If I go to the Suns and they don't win, I'm still in the pantheon with Westphal, Davis, KJ, Barkley, Nash, Marion, etc. of great Suns stars.

Exactly not to mention even if he wins a ring it'll be "because of the system."
He'll also always be in Duncan and even Drob's shadow as a franchise player.

I'm not even sure if he's going to be the Spurs' "franchise" player. He's already 30 and it's possible that his prime will only last 3 more seasons. I think Kawhi will be their franchise player.

I don't really have an issue with LMA taking his time. This is his last big contract and he wants to make sure he makes the best decision he can. First time he's had this opportunity. Way too much worrying about his "legacy". As Dirk always says -- Worry about that when you are done playing.
Dude has every right to make as many visits and talk to as many teams as he wants. This is a major life decision for him.

Re: PC Board OT thread
Well cancel the season. The spurs will get LaMarcus playing at MVP level and win 65 games with a 9 SRS. They'll make the finals beat LeBron again.
I mean the spurs fluked into a loss vs the clippers last year when they were still the second best team in the league.
Now they add Aldridge to their stacked cast and this is like watching 2008 Usain bolt race at a college.
I'm wildly exaggerating somewhat but ugh. Pop will win the finals barring something crazy happening. I'm just sick of the spurs winning so much...

Do you not remember how scary the Spurs looked the past couple years when they clicked? I don't think it's a given that Aldridge does what it's hoped he does, but everyone should be scared of the Spurs now.

So anyway, Aldridge to the Spurs.
Now we can concentrate on this question: Do the Suns have any idea at all what they are doing?

I don't agree with that because if he you're scared of playing in the shadow of Duncan and Robinson you might as well stay in Portland. At least they are a much better managed franchise than the Suns.
With the Spurs I'm getting Pop as my coach for at least 4 more years.
Anyway, he chose the Spurs. I don't know if he makes them better than OKC or Warriors but those 3 will be the legit contenders in the West IMO.

of course they'll be a contender again, i'm just not a big fan of his tbh, really don't see him as a superstar. has manu announced his return btw? their biggest weakness atm is PnR ball handlers.

Well, they have been screwed by the Spurs plenty before, so this isn't unfamiliar territory....

This time they have no one to blame but themselves if they truly are just screwed.
I'm open to the possibility though that this made sense even without Aldridge...it's just that it sure seems like they made moves in response to Aldridge. And well, if I'm the owner of this team, I'm asking my GM: You seriously unloaded talent to chase a player that the SPURS had already unloaded talent for? You knew this was a long shot, right? What's the plan now that we face the scenario that was clearly the most likely scenario all along?
And if I don't like what I hear, then that GM is very close to getting fired.
As I say all this though I need to emphasize again: Were I the Suns, I don't think I'd pursue Aldridge at all. I don't see how his age range fits with the core you have in Phoenix, which means that toward the end of Aldridge's deal when Bledsoe & co are actually in their primes, you'd have a massive albatross tied around your neck.

You're really trying to downplay a kawhi / aldridge / duncan front line? I'm not calling them the favorites out of the gate, but the spurs weren't a real "first round exit" team last year. They're going to be real dangerous.

Re: PC Board OT thread
Chances that we get 4 60 win teams this year for the first time since 98?
Warriors are a 10 SRS team that hasn't lost anything, San Antonio just added LMA and they're a 6 SRS team (not adding a Kawhi being healthy qualifier because he had a career high in minutes and played only 2 games less than his career high), OKC had a 9 SRS last time WB & KD were healthy and have improved the team since then, and Cleveland looked like they finally got it at the end of the season.

I still like most of the Suns offseason.
1. Got Len a mentor and a good upgrade for the next season, Len's clearly had injury problems.
2. Resigned Knight.
3. Got a shooter in the draft.
4. Moved at least one of the twins, and could move the other. They do that for a PF and its a fantastic offseason to me.
