and we all know how Malone treats children....

Dirk also had his failures in the playoff, he lost with his 67-win team to the Warriors and got exposed in games 3-6 of the 2006 finals. He was and still is a great player and both players are all-time greats but Malone averaged 25/10 over his whole career and dominated the low-post. He took his team 2 times to the finals and lost to Michael Jordan. I wouldn´t call that failure at all.
Seriously. People seem to forget he lost both times to MJ while Dirk won one against the Heat, mainly as a result of Lebron completely under performing. Now, if Dirk locked down Lebron, it would mean a lot more, but he didn't. Does anyone think Dirk could have carried the Mavs to a championship against MJ and Scottie?
Also, someone already pointed out the longevity of Malone's playing career as the reason why Dirk's numbers look that much better in the playoffs. If Dirk's team consistently makes the playoffs for the next 4-5 years and he continues to perform at a high level (and his career numbers don't take a hit), then you have a case.
