I think everything's been already said, so it's time to begin the draft, right?

Alright so, presuming there's no other mod who has stepped forward, I'll agree to be a co-runner of the project which I presume you'd want since it's hard to run a project like this without being able to do things like sticky threads and be primed to deal with GMs going nuts. (You haven't asked me, and it's fine if you don't want me, but I think you'll need someone to help you if not me.)

Hibachi, I assume you'd be the lead project runner on this? As a co-runner, I'd expect to have some PM discussions with you along the way and an ability to step in to make decisions if you're away, but we'd all be expecting you to be the one putting in the biggest efforts.

So where exactly are we at? Is the list of GMs already established, or does there need to be an official sign up?

I appreciate you volunteering to be co-runner, I think we will need some mod powers for this lol

As for everything else, john248 laid everything out in that post.

Oh wow, I had no idea that there was a list and my name wasn't on it. lol Eh, might be better that way.

Sorry about that, I didn't realize you put your name forward, my apologies! If you would like, you can instead assume the role of a judge!

I initially thought draft time for each pick would be like 12 hours or something. 4 hours is definitely faster, but the only problem I really see with it is that if its continuous then what happens if someone's draft slot is between 2 and 6 in the morning. Not many people are up at that time I think lol. With 12 hours, even if your time is between 12 midnight and 12 noon, you have SOME time to come on and post your pick. Or am I thinking of this in the wrong direction?

If someone makes their pick immediately in their time slot, I imagine the time resets for the next GM. If I make my pick 10 minutes into my time slot, the time resets for the next person, it wouldn't be like they still have to wait for my 12 hours to finish before making their pick. I think that's what you were asking, I hope that answers it?

Edit: Also, sorry for the wait, guys, I apologize!

Well there's no one right answer.

Some ideas:

Perhaps try to have the draft start on Saturday morning and get it off to a quick start so that no one misses their first pick. That will mean that if anyone's going to be gone that day, they really need to leave their preferred picks with the project runner, otherwise everyone else will be sitting around annoyed.

You could have a "night break" where basically who ever is on the clock can't get skipped, but voting can proceed as fast as people are able to go. This works really well if everyone's in the same location which we aren't of course, but if most the people here are game for it, we could do it.

How international are you folks?

I think it should be 12 hours, resetting after every pick.

If you do not make your pick, you will be skipped, but can make your selection at any time after. (Can't pick a player that has been drafted after your skip)

For example:
Team 1: Skipped
Team 2: Tim Duncan
Team 3: Larry Bird

Team 1 can pick anyone they want at any time except for Duncan and Bird.

Just my thinking. I'm also Eastern time.

That sounds great.

As for when to start drafting, I would agree with whatever time you come up with. I am European but I am often up watching games at night :D I would try not to miss my pick or stall the process. As a last resort, I would PM you with my preferred order even though I don't think it would be necessary. I also suppose that for the next rounds that would not be necessary.

I certainly approve of Hibachi's/Hodgkins's idea of 12 hours and resetting after every pick. That way it should run fairly smoothly and wouldn't suspend for a long period of time.

BTW. I'd love it if Doc MJ became a judge. He's certainly one of the most, if not THE most level-headed, knowledgeable and unbiased posters on this board so I'd be really secure about fairness of this process with him at the helm.

Seems like a fair proposition.

12 hours is fine with me, less time might have caused problems. (I'm European, and my time zone (CET) is like +6 to EST... and the work schedule again complicates things.)

I'll try to think ahead, and hopefully the picks will go smoothly on my part as well.

Not that I mind but at 12 hours 16 players and 10 rounds the draft will last well over a month

So is this the draft order? 14th pick... I'd obviously prefer a Top 5 pick so I could have a chance at one of the true legends but I'm really excited about the 14th and 19th pick combo I'll have.

I'm also EST. Let's figure out the remaining issues and get this baby going asap.

Not necessarily. I think most people will try to pick their players ASAP so there shouldn't be any major suspends. If someone makes their choice in, say, 10 minutes, another person can proceed with his pick. It's possible that one round will only take one day.

I am at GMT+2, so that would be EST+7. Anyway, 12 hours since the last pick should be fine by me aswell

Are we going to start a new topic for the draft? Maybe with only the picks being posted so we can keep track of who is available aswell

I'm on GMT +5.5 right now but in 6 days I'll be on PST. So it's doable.

Let's get this started. I guess I'm not drafting for another few days

Honestly though it it works out I'd be up for shortening the time people have on the clock.

Another rule that has been put in place in the past is that posters can't mention the names of players who have not been drafted yet. I always thought that was cool, not sure why.

I'd be down to be either a judge or a strategic consultant ($2,500 starting fee + $500 per consulting session).

I agree with this. I think it's cool to comment about another team's already drafted players and the developing style of that team, but let's not mention the names of other players still left in the draft pool.

I don't want anybody to rush their picks, but let's try our best to pick fairly fast and make sure we don't push the 12hr limit. If you're on the board, it shouldn't take too long to figure out your pick.
