i once was asked by a little kid if i could pkay basketball with him, so i did and tried to teach him what i could

he had fun and his mother asked me if i always trained there cause his kid liked me, it was cool but the kid calling me "mister" made me feel old at 21

unfortunately next days my schedule in school changed so i stopped going to practice

honestly felt a bit guilty thinking about the kid not having anyone to play with

Colbini has that Dre Miller thing where he's always been 35 years old his whole life.

When you really get to feeling really old is when (a) they don't ask you because you're too old and (b) if they did, you'd say no because your knees hurt too much.

yes, definitely.

it's an ongoing issue, just last year the international tennis integrity agency was founded and one of its responsibilities is investigating match fixing

there are a bunch of examples of players being caught recently for match fixing as well

argentinan nicolas kicker got a three year ban in 2018 for match fixing

these two brothers, karim and youssef hossam were former egyptian players banned for match fixing in 2018 and 2020 respectively. . another egyptian (issam haitham taweel) got a five year suspension in 2019 for match fixing.

it's certainly a problem in the sport at the lower levels

Wondering if there's any Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul fans here? Better Call Saul might be the best TV show I've ever seen and somehow it's turning out to be even better than Breaking Bad.

Yeah, I'm watching. I just started season 5 yesterday. It's great, better than breaking bad IMO.

Man don't get me started. I thought season 5 was already on the same level as BrBa season 5a, and now season 6 is definitely right there with BrBa 5b. These first three episodes were crazy and intense. I don't want to spoil, but yea this show is going down as better than BrBa.

Now if they could only win some Emmys :banghead: :banghead:

so with some trepidation I am now reading the Pippen book. He's one of my all-time favorites, but I also have an expectation that this book is going to do him no favors.

And just reading the introduction and uh yeah this is going to be horrible. This guy already deals with so many negative narratives and he's only helping to justify those who held them with this book painting himself as both hero and victim. I hope he moves past this and I learn some things, but....

My favorite books (no order):
The Rabbit series by John Updike (a tiny bit of basketball)
Something Happened by Joseph Heller
The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann
Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo
Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut

Currently working on Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata and quite enjoying it so far.
I bought a boat.

The Cigarette Catasthrophe is the rare book by an academic: serviceable prose around a vital topic. I'd categorize it as a true crime book about the greatest crime of the 20th Century and one still on-going to this day: the manufacture and selling of cigarettes.

It examines all facets of the tobacco industry. It shows the vastly different portions growers, scientists, businessmen. And it asks and answers the famous Watergate Question: What did they know and when did they know it?
