It looked like he didn't even play that well... The Bobcats are just a woeful defensive team, with an assortment of weak and small players. They have nobody who can guard LeBron even mildly and they have no rim protection or big athletic players sans Biyombo, who isn't particularly smart. LeBron just used his body beautifully to get close to the rim and in spots he wanted to, after that it was like taking candy from a baby. This was one of those games where he could've scored 60 if he had Kobe's mentality. And the one shot he missed was a poorly executed break from him, where he could've just outran Biyombo and finished with a strong two handed dunk or at least get fouled, but he was too lazy to do that so he just went for some weak half ass spin move which faildc. Still got a pretty good looked that nearly went though.

Lebron James including this game is shooting 55% from the field. Does anybody know the last perimeter player to do that while scoring over 25 ppg? was it jordan?

-edit-jordan's highest fg season is only .538%

I generally hate all talk concerning LeBron's post game, since he does it so, so little and isn't very good at it to boot, but he has looked very comfortable down there the last few games. Especially tonight.

He really is having a terrific season. Much of what hindered him the last 2 seasons has been remedied - the improved athleticism out of god knows where and arguably his best jump shooting season to date. Little surprise his efficiency is so insane. Based on the how the playoffs go, 2013 has a good chance of being his best season.

James is now a +17.0 in Net On/Off after tonight's game. That's the second highest mark of his career after 2009 (+21.2).

Great game. He didn't even seem to put THAT much effort out there. IMO he was still kinda cruising.

I thought he was pretty mediocre throughout most of the game. Played strong in the 1st quarter then just became passive to preserve the FG%. They could have blown it open earlier had he stayed aggressive in the 2nd and 3rd, instead of scoring 8 points and barely shooting (he averages just under 14 in those two quarters combined).

How do you get these nubmers? Is there a leaderboard of sorts for the entire league? What does it measure exactly?

It's very simple. The Heat outscore teams by 17 points per 100 possessions more when LeBron is on the court than when he is not.

So for example (these are not the real numbers, just an example):

When he's playing
Heat ORtg: 109
Heat DRtg: 99
Net points per 100 possessions: +10

When he's on the bench:
Heat ORtg: 99
Heat DRtg: 106
Net points per 100 possessions: -7

10 - (-7) = 17

So yes, you can understand how impactful he was in '09. +22 over a season is absurd. Only KG in '03, he was 22.8 or something, has had a higher figure.

Available on BBR, just go to on-off on the top right corner of the player page.

Another bizarre factoid. He's had eight games below .500 FG% ALL SEASON. And in those 8 games he's averaged 25.3-9.5-9.

BBR updates overnight; if you check now its at +17.0. I managed to do the calculations last night, so I figured I'd post em then.

It's hard to appreciate a game like this against the worst defense in the league, but still, good job Bron.

So, considering how much is made of Lebron's fit issues with Wade and Bosh, after 2011, the REAL problem seems to be occurring when Wade and Bosh share the floor. We're seeing GOAT level offensive and overall performance with James and one of the other Big 2 in 2012 and 2013, but they seem to be struggling anytime they are both on the floor together, regardless of James's presence.

James/Wade are strangely underrated at how well they work together, certainly. They're both great passers and finishers and it makes sense to see this data. Though it's pretty shocking how bad they are without Lebron this year.

=15.2... I know they look terrible without LeBron, but I didn't think it was -15.2 :/

Sample size, and Spo changed his sub pattern to match what Brown did in Cleveland. Lebron now plays more more against bench players and less against starters than in 2011. Wade and Bosh both play more minutes against starting units, whereas Lebron plays more in garbage time
