I'll definitely vote Kareem on the next one.. he was dominant on both sides of the court and was on an amazing level throughout the entire 77, especially in the postseason. Walton was outstanding as well. His impact was off the charts and truly dominated on both sides of the court.
I have Kareem higher, but Walton has a decent case for being just as impressive. BTW, I thought that Kareem would be top 5 to be honest..

The more and more I think about it, I just don't know how to rank the remaining bigs to be honest.
You've got Kareem, Duncan, KG, and Walton as the serious big men candidates. Really having a hard time choosing who should go next between them...but I really do like peak LeBron/Bird/Magic here more.

You also have to put Robinson in that mix. His peak was ridiculous and was right up there with Walton/KG as far as impact.

How is it "clear?"
@Fatal -- I've tried to add as much context as possible to the updated In/Out numbers I've published recently (no missed games, opponent adjusted), but haven't gone through with Walton. I know there were times Lucas was out as well, so I'll try and control for that and post the update below. I also know Lloyd Neal had some crazy good box-score games, but that's the thing, the box score doesn't describe your Global Impact on offense, and it barely touches your defensive impact...
Walton's In/Out with Lucas in
1977 (17g) -2.4 SRS to +8.1 SRS
1978 (18g) -3.0 SRS to +9.1 SRS

How did Robinson play any worse in the playoffs than 04 KG? They played similar on offense, but 95 Robinson had the better defensive postseason.

24.5/14.5/5 > 25/12/3
They're about even defensively
KG didn't suck in the WCF and probably would've won if the second best player on his team could play.
In those 4 losses DRob averaged:
23.5/10.8/2.3/1.3/1.8 6.3TO (game low of 5) 52TS. A 82ORTG.
Hakeem averaged (in 4 wins):
37.3/11.8/5.3/1.8/4.3 4.5TO 62TS.
You can't even blame scheme for that type of domination.

The spurs were -7.5 relative to playoff average. The TWolves were +3.1 (+10.6 difference). The Rockets were a 116.84 O rating offense in their other 3 series in comparison to 110.6 vs. Spurs.C-izMe wrote:colts18 wrote:C-izMe wrote:Lolwut? Has the PS ceased to exist?

Picking losses only is selectively sampling. Here is what KG did in his losses:
22/12.8/5/1/1.25/5 TO (high of 8 in the biggest game of life), .506 TS% avg 93 O rating, avg 14.7 game score
That doesn't look impressive either. If you only pick player losses, they won't look good.

DRob's peak was 1994. He didn't play Hakeem.

Dr Positivity wrote:I'm thinking somewhere between 10 and 15 for Walton... Hakeem, Duncan, Kareem, Magic, Bird, Lebron basically takes him that low. 76 Erving has fans, 2004 KG has a case (especially for the statguy voters), Oscar/West/Wade/03 Tmac...
I think Kobe would need to be included in that last group of guards..
