Hibachi, are we set with the first round? I'll do the unsticky/new sticky when the new threads are up.

Been watching this play out for awhile, fascinated by this entire thing.. Wish I could have gotten into this but being born in 95 i feel like i'm missing a lot of knowledge from before the current times.. Guess this will just be my input instead..

Steal of the draft: Kevin Johnson in the 6th or Alex English in the 10th, both very underrated peaks. Also like the Mitch Richmond and Brandon Roy picks

Reach of the draft: Originally wasn't a fan of the Carmelo pick, but like how MisterHibachi is using him.. I guess Chauncey Billups is the guy who might have been picked a little early. Afflalo as well, don't think he should have been drafted at all let alone in the 7th.

He should have been drafted: Adrian Dantley, Brad Daughtery, Danny Ainge

He should NOT have been drafted: Afflalo, surprised he was drafted let alone so early.

Best offensive team: Ardee, Whitehops or Notanoob

Best defensive team: Bruhman or CaliBullsFan

Strongest core (top 3 picks): Personally I am a fan of O_6's top 3, as well as DHodgkins.

Match up you wanna see in the playoffs: CaliBullsFan vs Bruhman, I like defense and this would be a 65-60 game

Top 3 teams: Bruhman, O_6, Ardee

Favourite to win the playoffs:

Other Comments: I absolutely love Bruhmans team, seeing as how KG is my favorite player and I also am quite fond of the TMC Warriors, rooting for you to win this thing..

I'm really hoping to see Bruhman or CaliBF play Ardee, elite offense versus elite defense..

I really expected DHodgkins to go farther, he looked like he had a well built team.

Also was really interested by Batmanas team, the small ball lineup with Grant Hill at the 4 and no true point guards but 2 elite ball handlers (Yes Brandon Roy) and Shaq would have been fun as hell to watch. Think you missed on the George pick and the bench was mishandled as well.

Can't wait to see how this thing plays out :D

Only LeBron Shaq and Magic's teams didn't advance when it came to the all time greats. So 4 of the top 7 picks move on which isn't bad. Shaq team though was about as poorly built as it could get.

I'd like to throw my hat as a judge.

When I saw the Shaq and Hill picks I got excited but George was a bad pick, and the bench was not great. Loved the Westbrook/Hill/Shaq dynamic.

Didn't like the build around Lebron personally

Yea you can't surround Shaq with 3 of the same guys (Roy, Hill, George). One of those guys has to be especially good from 3 point range, or rather, good at spot up shooting from 3 point range who should start.

Looking at the draft, If I were him I would have gone Stockton instead of George and then maybe Chris Webber.. Rasheed in the 3rd would have been a nice fit spacing wise.. Imagine a team like this:
Shaq
Sheed
Hill
Glen Rice/Mitch Richmond
KJohnson

Both the last two matches have finished; time to post the next round. Have fun everyone!

ECSF
Bruh Man vs. CaliBullsFan
Narigo vs. Notanoob

WCSF
HeartBreakKid vs. ThunderDan9
O_6 vs. ardee

8 matchups down. 7 remain. I think Narigo/Notanoob + O_6/ardee should be the 1st matchups of the next round since CBF and TD9 were the last teams to get in. And also because I don't want to wait any longer lol.

I agree.
I liked the Shaq team (much) more than the Lebron team. Taking Yao (not even prime Yao!) and Peja in the 3th and 4th really hurt that team talentwise, and taking Iverson in this format as early (!!) as in the 6th round  was also a mistake, I think.
PC Board All Time Fantasy Draft:

PG Mark Price (92-94)
SG Manu Ginobili (05-07)
SF Larry Bird (84-86)
PF Horace Grant (93-95)
C Dwight Howard (09-11)
+
Bernard King (82-84) Vlade Divac (95-97) Derek Harper (88-90) Dan Majerle (91-93) Josh Smith (10-12)

Would have been better to recreate a build like the current one, Defenders, elite 3 point Shooters, an Off ball player at the point, just add an anchor at the 5

I just want to say that this project really made me appreciate Hakeem A LOT more. I realized that fatal9 was right: nobody in NBA history provided more for a team than peak Hakeem.

Want a guy that can clean up the glass and provide rim protection? Hakeem. Want a mobile big man that can blow up PnRs, switch onto perimeter players effectively, and get his hand on the ball to generate TOs? Hakeem. Want a low post scorer? Hakeem. Want a face up scorer that can create from the perimeter? Hakeem. Want a big man that can stroke the midrange J? Hakeem. Want a solid passing big man? Hakeem.

I know that if I ever do a project like this in the future, Hakeem is my #1 choice. You can see his impact in this project. I personally think that Notanoob has one of the strongest teams in the tournament, largely because of Hakeem. Because Hakeem does so much for a team, you don't HAVE to surround him with super elite talent in order to contend. That's not to say that Paul Pierce and Vince Carter aren't great players (the 2nd and 3rd best players on Notanoob's team), they certainly are, but look at other teams and their supporting cast around a similarly great player:

ThunderDan9 surrounded Larry Bird with Dwight Howard (better than Pierce/Carter) and Manu Ginobili (about equal to Pierce/Carter).

john248 surrounded Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with Tracy McGrady (better than Pierce/Carter) and Ray Allen (about equal to Pierce/Carter).

That's just two teams off the top of my head, but I feel like most teams with a great #1 player put a pretty awesome #2 player next to them as well. Pierce and Carter are both excellent players, but they strike me as two #3s instead of either of them being a #2, at least compared to what other teams have.

But it still works, and Notanoob is still one of my favorite teams in the tournament, because a peak Hakeem allows you to not necessarily surround him with super elite talent on the perimeter, merely very good talent, and your team can still compete, because he provides so many different things.

I didn't really think he had a case for GOAT peak before...but if he's a guy who has such a compelling case for being drafted #1 in a project like this, that pretty much DOES mean he has an extremely strong argument for #1 peak of all time.

Peak Hakeem really did give you everything. Most portable centre I would say and one of the most dominant. What were his weaknesses at his peak?

At peak, he was a superb defender, one of the top 5 impact players in history -- he'd be a HOFer for his defense alone even if he was Dikembe Mutombo offensively. He was also one of the great playoff performers of all time, elevating his game over a long period as consistently as anyone.

Despite all the flash and hype, he was not particularly efficient as a scorer (.560-565ts% in his peak, .550 career which is almost the same level that Ray-Ban Sematra was ripping Wilt for playing at in the early 60s) nor was he a particularly good post passer though he worked at it and got better throughout his career. However he was solid at those skills if not outstanding. He also had a history of whining about his team earlier in his career which was still hanging around.

So, not perfect (nor is Russell or Jordan or Kareem . . . or any human being) but clearly one of the top 10 players of all time and a great fit for almost any team or system.

The Kareem that I had to choose is no where near his peak. Not that he was ever a defensive anchor on the level of Hakeem, but Kareem was pretty much offense only with shot blocking by the time he was on the Lakers.
