He can go to LA for the MLE, but he can probably find a 15mill+/year at other places, including OKC. Im sure there's a negligible amount to him where winning is more important, but 5 mill/year is still 5 mill/year, in what might be his last significant contract.

JVG is not an honest voice when it comes to LeBron. He really dislikes LeBron and loves to pick at him for stupid reasons, and I'm not sure he'll ever change.
Only 7 Players in NBA history have 21,000 points, 5,750 assists and 5,750 rebounds. LeBron has double those numbers.

That's why as cringe as he is, it's great to have a Lebron stan like Mark Jackson to counterbalance it. His bias against LeBron reached a new low during these Finals. I don't remember it being quite this bad.

LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

I like player of the year award. How many times has he been the best player but doesn't get MVP or FMVP? Player of the year looks at season and the whole of playoffs.
Player of the year award would be cool but would they add that when they already have regular season and finals MVPs?
I’d love to see it though. I’ve wanted them to make an award like that for a while now, and it’d be the perfect award to name after LeBron.
I dont know if they would add it, but they should. Like, I'm curious who would get it in 2019 for example. Leonard didn't play enough regular season to really earn it. Not sure Giannis did enough in the playoffs to earn it. 2015 LeBron wins it no? Probably gets one of 2017, 18 if not both. Got to give him 2014 too. Some of those Nash MVPs probably go to someone generally viewed as the better overall player. Jordan surely picks up some extras in years he didn't win MVP. There are many years where MVP/Player 9f the year atent the same and a good number where you could have different FMVP, MVP and POY.

I would *Love* Gallo on the Lakers. If you keep him and get rid of whatever extra pieces we'd have to get rid of but keep Dwight and Rondo and KCP or whatever, the lakers would definitely repeat. Gallo is a great third option because he can shoot and play off the ball very efficiently. He can get 25 points on any given night. He can get 30. He can settle in and get 16 or 17. He provides spacing, scoring punch and he isn't a great defender, but we have enough good defenders to the point where his scoring/shooting would be valuable.

I was thinking it would be something like playoff MOP. I think hockey has that with Conne-Smythe trophy iirc. Not sure the exact name.

Damn straight. AD and Luka are the future for me as a fan once Lebron retires. Outside of the Lakers ofc.

Wait what? Is JVG really biased against LeBron? I don't really hear it, I feel like he has tremendous respect for him and just calls it as he sees it. Everytime LeBron manufactures a bucket in pressure situations he's always full of praise.
If it's about foul calls going against him... I mean, idk could just be really bad at judging fouls

How would you guys rank Butler's series among the best losing playoff performances against LeBron?
Oladipo 2018
George 2017
Draymond 2016
Durant 2012
Arenas 2006
Are some that come to mind.

Yeah, I wouldn't consider JVG a Lebron hater either. I've noticed that a lot of fanbases think JVG has a bias against them, I think it's cause his commentary style has an excessive amount of shtick. He's always playing the grumpy old guy character.

Such an awesome interview. The AD LeBron connection seems so genuine. Even though Wade/LeBron were probably better friends, the on court connection and seemingly ego free partnership between AD and LeBron seems like an overall better thing for both of their careers.
Also hoping AD can continue his peak play and lead the team once LeBron starts declining... whenever that happens. LeBron could get to 6 rings if these guys stay together.

Re: The Lebron '20 Thread (Pt. 8)
Have read this multiple times over the years, but thought I would re-post for anyone who hasn't. Tremendous deep dive on LeBron and his prospects on the eve of his rookie season by the great Jack McCallum. It was almost a foregone conclusion that LeBron was going to be a superstar, and amazingly, I think you can make a very strong case that he's actually exceeded expectations. But even though we probably take it for granted at this point, nearly 20 years later, it's still incredible that an 18-year-old kid could hit the NBA with those kinds of hopes and pressures and deal with it all pretty much flawlessly.
https://www.si.com/nba/2015/07/06/si-vault-lebron-james-nba-debut
NBA officials will tell you that we've seen this before, a phenom receiving big bucks, arriving amid much fanfare. But they're kidding themselves and they know it. No one has gotten this much this soon, no one has ever entered any league under so much scrutiny. The three-year, $10.8 million rookie contract he's getting from the Cavaliers is Monopoly money to James, who has endorsement deals worth more than $100 million.
"I've been around the game for 40 years," says Cavs coach Paul Silas, "and I've never seen anything like it. It's scary."
The Cleveland law firm that represents James has pursued more than 1,000 infringements on LeBron's name and image. At the Caesars Palace Race & Sports Book these days you can wager on all things James. He's 10-to-1 to score between 22.1 and 24 points per game, 8-to-1 to have a high game of 49, 50 or 51 points. Already he is an economic system as much as he is an athlete, the primary link in a long chain of dependency. His performance on the court and his comportment off it bear consequences for -- take a deep breath -- a city, a franchise, a coach, a general manager, a league, several corporations and an extended family bound to get even more extended.
There are no odds posted in Las Vegas on James's emerging from all this with his money, his integrity or his sanity. He's a better bet than most, and not merely because he's a 6'8", 240-pound man-child who could pass for twice his age. It's also because he has overcome so much already, having been engulfed in a climate of avarice since first demonstrating that magical thing called promise.
"I can handle it," says James. That is his mantra. I can handle it.
"He's done well so far," says Fred Nance, his lawyer, "but it's hard to imagine that any 18-year-old could fully comprehend all of this."
The popular observation that James's easiest adjustment will be on the court is glib at best. The $90 million he's getting from Nike isn't for being an All-Star someday. It is not enough for him to follow in the footsteps of Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady, the straight-from-high-school phenoms who needed a few years of seasoning before they sizzled. The standards for James are no less than Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Tim Duncan, all of whom entered the league ready to dominate.

This is the first time since LeBron left the Heat that after winning a ring it doesn't feel like he has to start all over again as an underdog.
I think with a couple minor pieces the Lakers have as much ability to repeat as the Heat did in 2013.

Re: The Lebron '20 Thread (Pt. 8)
Gallo would be a massive addition. Fixes the biggest problem of shooting, and he's surprisingly big too. He would be a better shooting Kieff, with a bit worse defense, but Kieff's defense was pretty hit and miss in these playoffs.
I think the Lakers are pretty much playing with just the $10m MLE, which wouldn't be a massive paycut for Gallo if he's worth $15m and he's actively willing to sacrifice money for a chance at a championship.
But I feel the same about Jerami Grant. Idk how sustainable his bubble shooting was, but even if he's not as good a shooter as Gallo (which he's not), he's younger and a better defender. And I think they would cost about the same.

Its hard to get rid of green because if he just gets him jumper back he becomes the third most valuable player on the team.
I think we need strong wing defenders/shooting/playmakers in that order. Playoff Rondo is fine for playmaking but id like to have another scoring playmaking guard for oick and rolls with AD, esp since bron didnt do it that much till finals.
Lebron/AD/Kuz/caruso are all good as wing defenders although caruso can get can of schmacked at times, and you dont want AD and bron in those positions alot. Kcp cant guard wings at all, green is ok but struggles against strength. Id like to get one good offensive coordinator on the team too.
We dont have alot of flexibility in general though. I def want 2 way guys so we have no defensive weaknesses, since thats what the championship was built upon.
I could see trading green but hes still a passable shooter thats a great team defender. I think THT might make rotation next year although

Does anybody have advanced stats regarding James and Jordan finals appearances? I was just wondering how James matches up with Jordan in the advanced metrics, such as VORP, etc. Thanks in advance.
